It actually does look alot better than expected. I hate origin stories that start off super slow like Smallville. No flight til the last 5 mins of the 10th season finale? like come on.

This and The Flash get right into the good stuff. Trailer was pretty fleshed out to give a good sense of the show.

They could have her face off against people who don't try to physically fight her.

There are plenty of evil geniuses of all levels which they could have her face off against. Basically put her in situations where she can't win by just punching the villain to death.

She should also be vulnerable to magical and psychic opponents. She also has weaknesses against red sunlight and kryptonite, which they will obviously eventually use (hopefully not too often).

Kryptonians aren't indestructible anyway. She could face off against martians, other kryptonians, new gods, 5 dimensional imps, lanterns (sapphires?) etc.

Eh, with how Smallville went it was pretty absurd the lengths they had to go for anyone to be a "problem" for him, and I see this being similar. I've only seen the first couple episodes of The Flash so I cannot say much there (I'll catch up on the show eventually) but DC's problem seems to be stupidly OP characters and trying to make a regular earth-based show on them.

Are they casting anyone to play Superman? Are they just going to talk about him and never have him actually show up? She's in the same goddamn city he's centered in, isn't she? She was supposed to be all about looking after him, and clearly has a good opinion of him, so what are they going to do about Superman/Supergirl? How are most crimes not going to be solved by Superman, too? And if there's anything big enough for Superman to be really busy with...wouldn't she be looking into helping him? I just don't get how any of this will make sense and not require an immense amount of suspension of disbelief within the confines of the universe it's set.

Not necessarily. The Supergirl in the new 52 was pretty badass and had a much better story than what they are pushing on CBS. Same with Wonder Woman in the new 52. A lot of people don't like the retcon origin story of WW being half amazonian half god (Father was Zeus and her being born from clay was a cover up), but I actually thought it was a good shakeup.

I'm pretty sure some kind of deal could have been brokered at some point. But I don't really feel like getting into it all over again because he could have done a better job... Yeah, really trying not to start lol.
