I'm sure he's contracted to appear in ep 9. No contract with Marvel so he has a choice in the matter.

I will say that I'm sure the drama of ep 8 and his creative conflict over Luke with Rian Johnson had an effect on him. Plus the fan backlash. Had it gone better I feel like he'd prolly not feel this way about acting.
