Qui-Gon would have trained him differently, and his future path as Darth Vader may have been avoided.
Agreed. His relationship with Palpatine as a mentor would have been cut down drastically had Qui-Gon survived the battle on Naboo

3 was the worst for me because it is where all the potential of the prequels finally was just completely wasted. The line from Anakin when fighting Obi-Wan, that he believes the Jedi are evil, best encapsulates it. At no point during the prequels do we ever see situations that would lead Anakin to believe this. The only one that comes close is Windu attempting to kill Palpatine, but even that, Anakin only saves Palpatine because he believes he can help him save Padme. The prequels were supposed to tell the story about the rise and fall of Anakin, but all they do is get from point A to point B without making that journey worthwhile.

The prequels are by far the worst movies. But they are better nowadays because Clone Wars adds so much to Anakins story and tries to make his turn to the dark side make sense.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

The prequels were easily the worst for me, though I actually did enjoy TPM and I think if 2 and 3 had been solid films it wouldn't get the hate it does. It just ends up being the first of what became a shit trilogy.

Also, I know, unpopular opinion, but I actually liked the Ewok movies. I think that's because at the time you were getting SW shoved in all directions (e.g. Muppet Babies), and when I watched them on the Disney channel I wasn't expecting them to be tear-inducing brilliance, but a typical fun 80s film. And I think they fit that mold very well.

I also think that's why I can enjoy the new trilogy, too. I don't have the kind of high expectations others do. If I have fun watching some fight scenes and enjoy some characters, I'm all good.

Kathleen Kennedy on the film's title
I think ‘The Rise of Skywalker’, it doesn’t answer anything. it’s provocative, it asks questions, and it could mean a lot of different things and I think that’s what was important to us. We didn’t want to have a title that felt like it was telling you the story. At the same time, it needs to feel emotional, which is a challenge to try to figure out what that might be. And I think the word Skywalker, it’s captured all 40 years of what’s gone before.
    on Palpatine
This has been in the blueprint for a long time, yeah. We had not landed on exactly how we might do that, but yes, it was always [to be in Episode IX].
JJ is also surprised that Palpatine wasn't leaked.

A fan theory that's gaining traction is that Skywalker is a term meant to replace Jedi. So while it's not throwing out the concept of force wielders, that want to make it accepted to train as a Skywalker instead of a Jedi which is held as a negative term by many in the current canon.

you're not wrong. they've gotten so memeified at this point i think people forget how fucking atrocious they are and how much backlash there was when they released. they are some of the worst blockbusters ever made.

I don't say this often but AG is the voice of reason here.

The prequels have the benefit of the fact they had to arrive at a certain location. So the biggest missteps were those of poor execution and wooden acting, but he couldn't really take the train totally off the rails (although Jar-Jar was a valiant attempt at that)

Sequels are a different beast altogether because they can make canon and are not constrained to adhere to it.

Where? I just did a search of Skywalker and Jedi and none of your posts with those terms contain the theory.

I’m exaggerating. I guessed that same theory a day or two ago in this thread.

I can say with a straight face that Episode III is better then TLJ. It's about on par with Phantom Menace, but Attack of the Clones is still far and away the worst Star Wars movie.

I actually feel the same way about the Disney remakes. They're trying to hit the same beats that made the originals great and just don't bother with making the rest of it good.

I said this to AG's face not even a week ago. Altho I specified podracing was irredeemable.

And seriously how has this not been posted yet??

There are a couple articles being published that mentioned that J.J. consulted with George Lucas for the script and story for this final movie. This can be a good thing since Lucas is a lot better when he doesn't have full control and someone is there to reign in his crazy shit but it might just retread old ideas which J.J. can already do by himself.
