i'll be the first to admit i'm not much of a Star Wars films fan as i came to the movies later in life and so they lack the nostalgia glow. find the only respectable films in the franchise A New Hope, Empire, and Rogue One, but, just, why, how, why how. Phantom and Clones are just, just awful, in every way. Revenge of the Sith is p bunk as well but it hits that critical mass of self-serious terribleness that it becomes ironically enjoyable.

Ok I'll clarify:

In my experience trying to follow Star Wars fans, everyone says Empire was great, and at least some portion of the community to varying degrees thinks every other movie was garbage that ruins Star Wars, including the original Star Wars.

I was a little disappointed but ultimately OK with TFA because I understood the studio logic of playing it safe to get the franchise goodwill back

TLJ sucked because of a garbage screenplay, Disney channel characters, plots that make little sense, and a myriad of other reasons.

People need to stop peddling these oversimplifying straw men of why people didn't like the movie.

It was almost a beat-for-beat replay of Empire, which everyone says is so great.

They put the all-white-surface planet battle at the end instead of the beginning but otherwise yeah.

I always read "you're complaining because TLJ was different!" but I've never really read people complaining that it was different. People complain because it fucking sucked. Almost no one cares that it was different; it was the shit delivery, writing, comedy, and characters that they are complaining about.
