Ah, when I saw the thread I thought they'd finally made an announcement.
Back to waiting, I guess.
The Japanese trademark was just made public today (filed December 2nd) while the European trademark was made public on December 5th. Rumor is that this is what Deep Down will be rebranded as and if so, then this will be merged.
Which was my kneejerk reaction to seeing the thread.
I just don't know how they figured something like deepdown with a AAA budget could be a f2p title. That said, still optimistic for the end result being good.
Spoiler: show
I don't know why people keep saying that.
Deep Down doesn't even seem slightly like Dragon's Dogma.
Setting is different (isn't actually it some VR type shit in Deep Down instead of being the actual world?), gameplay is different, graphical style is different. I really hope they don't make a boneheaded move like that.
I think many are referring to the original trailer and not all the details that came after that. We also haven't seen this game in a while so a rebranding and possible changes (even major ones) are possible. Although "online" makes me think of an MMO type of game and I don't think Deep Down was supposed to be like that but closer to the Souls series.
The original deep down was simular to darksouls in that other players could affect your world. You were able to loot dead players. I really hope that Dragons dogma gets a sequal that would be amazing. But these two games need to stay seperate

Title: Dragon's Dogma Online
Platforms: PS3/PS4/PC
Genre: Action
Price: Free 2 Play (With microtransactions)
Producer: Minae Matsukawa
Director: Kento Kinoshita
Executive Producer: Hiroyuki Kobayashi
The game is an online game with a full open world, a lobby area supporting up to 100 players, and feature ongoing content updates, timed events, etc. Players can form parties of up to 4 players or pawns, and engage on quests. There will also be raid-like events which support up to 8 players at once. There will be quick matching as well.
Sounds pretty much like an online only MMO type game without the full MMO gameplay. Similar to stuff like PSO and Guild Wars.
As long as I get wind-pushing-me-like gameplay and the most awesome spell effects I've seen in a game I think I'll be happy with that.
DD with multiplayer is all I wanted out of this and it sounds like that's what you get.

In an interview with Famitsu, producer Matsukawa and director Kinoshita share the following comments:
Development started with the basic desire of taking Dragon’s Dogma and making it playable in an online environment.
The game couldn’t be made in tandem with Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen and was therefore pushed back.
Capcom contemplated a monthly fee, but chose freeo-to-play in the end in an attempt to get more players to try it out.
Though paid items are present, the game will still feel like a proper Dragon’s Dogma game.
The story is completely new and there are no character connections. (Editor’s note: We take it this means no character connections to the previous game.)
The game world will initially be the size of what players have come to expect from previous games, but will expand over time to be three times larger in scope.
Parties are formed in the lobby, after which players depart for the field.
An effort has been made to emphasize the strengths and traits of individual classes, but it’s not balanced so strictly that players need to be super meticulous about party makeup.
I wonder if you'll have to pick your main class from the get go or if they'll retain the change anytime aspect of the original. Given that stat boost on level up was governed by your current class I suspect if it's the latter you'll see a lot of people going Ranger for 10-100 just for the Stamina and balanced STR/MAG. Really was the only aspect I didn't enjoy about the original Dragon's Dogma.
If they do this right this could potentially be the best thing ever.
" there are no plans to release Dragon's Dogma Online in the West" I lost all interest before I even really wanted to care. Fuck you capshit.
Eh, they usually say that kind of thing. Doesn't mean nuffin... yet.
Noooooooooooooooooooooooo.
Why no western release planned and why PS3 in 2015.
;___;
It shows split screens so I'm leaning towards online co-op? In which case hell yeah.
