Yeah, that would've went hilariously bad.
God I hate that guy.
He is really annoying but I can't say I find fault with anything in particular he's saying. GiTS is already a risky property to go with and going with an unknown expands that risk exponentially, especially in a movie that's probably going to cost a decent amount of money to produce with any kind of faith.
I just hate his voice. He's totally right.
GitS Manga publisher, Kodnasha, approves of the ScarJo casting

That's a really interesting video. I always wondered if Japanese people acknowledged that anime characters don't look Japanese.
I''ve rewatched the 1995 film just to refresh my memory of the characters and the plot in general and I think ScarJoh is perfect for this role because of her performance in Lucy and Under My Skin. She'll do a good job as emotionless cybernetic killing machine imho.
Can't believe I'm seeing someone hold up Lucy as an example of good anything. Movie was trash and she doesn't act in it, though I don't think it was her fault, per se. In the beginning of the movie she does a great job of being the desperate party girl or w/e she was, but as soon as the drug got in her I guess the director told her to Dr. Manhattan it because she shows zero emotion the rest of the movie.
Yeah, Lucy started off great, but after she got her powers it was stupid. Didn't even fuck shit up nor do anything badass.
anyhow i'm all for scarjo playing the major. Just cause she has a japanese name doesn't mean she needs to be japanese at all.
I must be remembering GitS as a lot less physical then you, because in all those movies she's hardly doing anything physically related to what they're doing in GitS. Any movie where she's required to do physical feats, the action is always the same. It's gonna be Black Widow diving through the web, Black Widow leaping off buildings, yada yada. I'm not optimistic in the least, but I'll give it a fair go when a trailer is released.
I think he was saying she's good for playing an emotionless robot lol. Not that that is accurate for the Major.
Even if that was true of the character, which you're right it isn't, that's not exactly a compliment to Scarlett.
Nope, I don't think it was meant to be.
