I feel bad for hating things that involve so many hardworking people taking part, but writers force my hand so often.
This is going to be terrible.
See, I watched that Adam Savage video and it really make me sad. I love the concept of Ghost in the Shell, and really enjoy some of the art design and cinematography for this. So after watching the Adam Savage video, I put my bias aside and watched the trailers again and did some research.
It still seems terrible. The trailers make the story look cliche and dumbed down and I hate Scarlet Johansson. Everyone involved is "she's the he's choice for the role, give it a chance." However I've really never seen her where I felt she did good acting. To me she had been about the same as Milla Jovavich in "Look st this hot woman in tight clothes doing crazy action." The funny thing is the creator of the manga's response to this was "Meh, I knew it was always going to be a white actress, if this gets my story spread to a wider audience it's a price to pay" lol
I don't think she's good in emotionally-demanding or drama roles, but she does a wide range of subtle mannerisms pretty well. "Scoop" and "Don Jon" are two films that come to mind.
I'd slay
Needs more wubwub
Awful remix.
I am livid that I finally get Michael Wincott in a movie again it's this fucking shit for 5min.
lol this movie is gonna stink
People already seen it, spoilers are lel.
looks pretty good to me
2 reports I got were:
"Pretty terrible."
"Didn't make sense at all"
along with a lot of other complaints.
Almost every person I've ever shown the original to responded with almost the same thing regarding it making much sense.
Is it going to be as good as the original? No. The original was a masterpiece of art. Anyone who thinks it will come close is a fool.
I'm sure as hell still going to enjoy it, most likely. If you're a fan of anime, just be happy that we may get some big budget remakes. "New" anime over the last half decade has mostly been total shit.
Edit: I just took a handful of hackers/deep forensic gurus to see the original when it was in theaters, last month. Almost all of them said it made no sense to them.
