Where do you live? And. I hate you.
Lees Summit right outside Kansas City.
let me run a wire all the way to raleigh until we get it. Thanks.
That sucks, I've been waiting for 6 months now.
I hate you all. I'm paying $50 for 25mpbs VDSL which at best pulls 7mpbs.
Woot. Just got notice today that installation starts next week.
Fuck all you niggas. We'll be stuck with Comcast/AT&T for a long time here in Miami. Here's hoping the flood gates will open when the new FCC rules go into effect.
Thing about Comcast/AT&T in the general South Florida area, is that it is hit or miss. Some areas you will get what you're paying for with little to no interruptions. Some areas you will get not even half of that, with constant down times every couple of weeks. Not to mention the $/Mbps after promotional periods.
Well, you live in Miami, fuck Miami.
We don't have google yet, but at least we have verizon fios. When it was just comcast, it was terrible.
Gigabit internet is cool on paper, but it's difficult enough finding a source with enough allocated bandwidth to saturate 150mbit. I suppose it's future proof, and i'll probably get it if it comes here, but at this point I don't think I'm missing much not having it.
I'd just be happy with symetrical at this point. 50/50 would go a long way vs 50/5
So does anyone know exactly who owns the fiber backbone that Google tied into in Austin, or how to find out? Trying to figure out who these assholes in my area are buying their bandwidth from because there are at least five companies with a backbone running along highway 45 connecting Houston and Dallas. Not sure if they all own part of the same line or how that shit works, but I know it is there because they all list it there on their maps an some contractor cut it before when digging.
Please Google start a rural company. A speed of 50/50 would be fine here. Anything is better than paying for 6/.6 and getting less than half that.
Google Fiber is officially announced for Salt Lake City, Yay!
But it's only for SLC proper and not the suburbs for now, fuck!
They're installing now. Weeee! Will report back when they hook up my unit.
