14's main mission makes no sense. Granted i skip a lot of the dialouge, but one minute you're trying to stop a village from sylphs from summoning a death god to wipe out humanity, next minute you're in a tavern fetching water from a nearby creak, followed by running around town and doing menial fetch quests. it reminds me of a f2p type game like maple story. 80% of quests are "go to <pos> and kill 5 X's" or "go 30 feet from me and touch these's ???'s" and they reward ludicrous exp. think of 80% of ffxiv quests as combination of the campaign op "Streetsweeper" and magian kill trials(except its always "kill <5 of these kinds of mobs" Fates are fun because they're like Reives/BCNM's but with cool music and clever American pop culture/idiomatic references as titles e.g fighting a giant Ochu and the Fate's called "Fate is a fecal mistress" or something.
The primary issue with the MSQ in XIV is they took all the silly/menial shit that should be relegated to optional side quests and stuffed it into the MSQ.
It leads to a lot of stupid shit like:
that just totally disrupts the experience and makes the story seem even shittier than it already is.
It should have been a single MSQ of actual importance and significance every 5-10 levels with all the other bullshit made optional and shifted onto NPCs you come across.
Bullshit should be optional, not required.
Titan is destroying the world, but first get me a sandwich.
But that random jackass needs his water bruh. Also, padding.
That stuff was blatantly put in there to force it on people and thus prolonging the thing.
The worst part of the MSQ is the Titan arc and the 'Cid has plot amnesia' bullshit. I couldn't even pretend to take it seriously. Are you kidding me? lol.
Also, no blood when the Waking Sands gets attacked by Livia? But we can make jokes about a Galkas huge dick, blowjobs, adultery, implied rape, constant swearing and ripping a mans balls off? Yeah, ok.
Fishing is optional!
Yeah, I remember trying to do that Water Ore quest and raged so hard.
Don't forget that PLD/WHM is a "skilled undead killer".
Just hit them with your pimp /pld banishes
Pretty sure the best combo suggestion by Brady guide was SMN/BLM with something like "Send forth your avatar to do your bidding, while you cast devastating elemental magic from the back lines" lol.
It is, but only 12 years later, back then Avatars had no survivability and anything /subjob skill wise wouldn't land, not to mention that's /SCH not BLM!, but I do get what you are saying
Randomly saw this on my youtube feed, no idea who it is but this kind of thinking is horrid. I bet a lot of people think like this too:

Makes no sense, I don't even wish that on XIV and I barely play that.
