Yeah, I think the reason people like FFXI is that bonds grow a lot stronger when you go through a huge challenge together. And that's what FFXI really was.

Before that... I think I stopped shortly after adoulin because it was just a pain to advance unless you had a certain set of jobs.

I don't quite miss the 75 days. Don't get me wrong, FFXI had some great memories, but it was a god awful game in some aspects.

I still remember during finals week camping LoO for K. Clubs with a LS mate. Worst decision ever. 3/18 though in a 4 week span.

K.Club was really not "that" hard of a camp. Yes, the window was large and it sucked but that thing really wasn't difficult to control. If you had some time and a good partner to camp with you were golden. Not a lot of people camped it, the only competition I ever had was RMT. And over a two week span we were able to get 4-5 clubs if I remember correctly.

You ether remember wrong, or you were the luckiest mother fuckers in the world. One of my shells camped this thing for years (Always a few members at the camp during window for years....). We would get 1, maybe two clubs a month if we were lucky. That is claiming everyone during that time. Always had TH4+ and even did that raindance, always point it NE, thf last hitting with /dance, etc, etc. Yes i know (We all knew) that didn't matter but we did it anyways.

Serra's CoP pics made me nostalgia hard but then I reminded myself how incredibly frustrating it could be. Still felt great when you finally cleared whatever mission you were stuck on.

Thanks Dant. I needed the laugh from the @1 Ridill, even if it was from before I joined the LS.

That's very true.

I have good and bad memories of FFXI, but I will say that the long camps probably contributed to me finishing my grad degree.

Time to go do research a few more peer reviewed articles.

Know it's going to take forever to assemble for an event?
Time to write a few more pages.

Can't do that with XIV.

It was great times back in the day man. We had ups and downs but fuck if it wasn't fun. I couldn't do it again though. Something only a younger me could have done. I ended up sacraficing a lot for the game(grades and sleep, thanks Fafnir/Nid). I wonder if the Drunktrag recording is still out there some where..

It is LMAO. The NA alliance man... it really felt like "US vs Them" from the NA side of things. At first it was NA vs JP on Fairy, then TG vs NA Alliance. Then I think we had a good 2-3 months of free Fafhogs.

Also XIV wasn't able to capture the same magic that XI did.

Unless I have my screenshots on some old HDD in a box somewhere I either forgot to keep them, or in a moment of weakness deleted them, because they're not on my external drive that I decided to back up my shit on.

I have a nagging feeling the deletion scenario is true, having some vague memories I can't quite verify. Anticipatory god fucking damnit.

Struggling through CoP was probably some one of the most challenging, fun, and satisfying experiences I've had in a game. Especially at a time when most people in my CoP perma had 1, maybe 2 jobs at 75 (one of which was me which only had Drg..). I was our group's strategy person too, so I remember reading like everything I could to try to figure out how we'd handle each obstacle. Reading a lot of FFXI LJs is how I started blogging actually..

Man...I remember the first day of 8th grade only because it was the day i beat CoP 2-5 with my really good friend Noldor. I ran home, and made sure we had internet. Mammets fight was so fun. My tenzen fight had a real assortment of characters too...all people from opposing hnm ls at the time. hccmike, grimblade lenay i think fathoover babiedoll. I miss Hccmike, that guy was a beast on CKD forums LOL
