Not gonna lie, I squealed like a little girl and even got tears in my eyes as the theme song played.

Was this episode directed by Hideo Kojima?

The effects really could have been better. Not sold on this whole angle they're taking, I guess it will be put off until ep. 6. Just get in some good monster of the week episodes.

I liked it. Also like how natural it felt watching this episode, like I was already mid season. Also gotta agree that the CGI was pretty lame, but still didn't ruin the episode for me. Also bugged me that Scully can't bookmark a website.

Don't get me wrong, I'm nostalgic as can be and I'll watch anything Anderson and Duchovny are in. But...

(Probably spoilers if you haven't watched the episode)
    Spoiler: show
So let me get this straight: Chris Carter is just upending pretty much the entire plot of the series to replace it with this new, more modern post-911 theme? Because that's how it seems to me. They suggested (with a straight face) that the entire warring alien factions, the black goo, and the hybrid impregnation were all actually a DIFFERENT conspiracy by the US government.

The modern conspiracy aspects felt kind of forced and inappropriate. It seems like the theme of this series is going to be things like terrorism, domestic spying, nationalism, cyber monitoring, etc. And the whole thing is a conspiracy specifically to invade and take over America...
Maybe it will turn out to be better than expected but I would have rather have them stick to the original plot. I'm starting to wonder if Chris Carter could be the George Lucas TV writing.

if im not mistaken it was originally rumored to be a soft reboot/reset of the series, so I'm not really surprised by this

The X-Files Revival - It's official! 6 New episodes ordered

Pleasantly surprised they kept the original intro. That music is seriously the best ever.

    Question on the episode:

    Spoiler: show

I never fully watched all of X-Files - it was more like an episode here and there whenever it was on TV. Who was the guy at the end scene? New character or recurring? The way they presented him was more like a "dun dun dunnn look who's back!" way.

I guess I am the only one that felt slightly underwhelmed. Some of the Skully/Mulder/Skinner dialogues felt like deja vu more than nostalgia. Nonetheless the new angle on alien conspiracy is very intriguing and scary at the same time. I hope with the six episodes they have, they delve more into main story, rather than do monster of the week.

That was the Cigarette Smoking Man. He has died like 4 times in canon (no lies) and so everyone was like WHAT THE FUCK HOW ARE YOU NOT DEAD even though he is one of the most notorious villains and anti-Mulder people out there. It's a bit more complicated than that, but yeah, he's well known throughout the series.

Product placement isn't free and Google probably didn't want to pay up. Besides FinderSpyder has been in X-Files lore since first seasons. It's fan service for sure.

Not like they really need to advertise anyway.
