Even better most of the battles are tournaments... speaking of which what happened to fighting/action series actually having tournaments. Everyone used to do it in the day now not so much
I'd say a mix of everyone doing it, like said, it usually being the MC going to the finals and winning/losing and learning a valuable lesson, or people not really caring too much about side characters getting significant page time.
I miss World's Strongest Disciple now.
If Soma's sauce is what's going to propel him to victory, it's gonna need to give out some serious foodgasms to topple the reaction Hayama just got.
I'm saddened they missed an excellent opportunity to use the how can we enjoy this without any sauce.
Shit looks like Souma might pull thru... and lol at all the explanations of the stripping like they are some super power
Soma the Saucier! So mad that the ending is next chapter.
Ending is next week after a flashback lol

The writer tweeted about having to have this fight so long yesterday or something. Said it had to be that long to show Soma as the true MC and get him over the hump.
Now, I want to see how the Umi's are doing vs best girl rindo.
Who the hell thought Souma wasn't the MC? Outside of obvious indications, he's one of the few that even when he takes a L, he's culinary skills are still evolving.

Shit even if I knew nothing about this show I could tell you it was him just from the opening or really if you had a line up of the regulars from his haircut.
Of course, but its the whole storybuilding bullshit. I just want hayama done and over with.
Slightly enraged at the spoilers today. Chapter should be out this evening. Not happy with the writer at the moment, but I guess he's saving the finale for Shokugeki being the cover piece for next week's SJ.
Still not concluded? Been wondering when they were going to start doing Frieza fights... er really long cooking battles
At least the anime is going to truncate this battle down into an episode, 2 tops (most likely an episode w/ cliff hanger and judging in the next)
It's a definite fight over imo. The moment he admitted his shortcomings to Souma's strengths is the point of loss. He's on the road to understanding why and his closing arc here will definitely be an off screen finding himself.

It's Shonen Jump. Shokugeki is popular enough with more than enough food orgasms to warrant more seasons later on. But rather than doing the whole "endless anime that is constantly creeping up on the manga so we have to force shitty fillers" like they do/did for Naruto, Bleach and One Piece, they're just pumping out higher quality animes that leave enough space between the anime and the manga not to have to worry about the story catching up.
