Is anyone else watching this? It's been a fun watch so far!

synopsis with a minor spoiler for the pilot:

The year is 2020, and Phil Miller (Will Forte) is seemingly the only human left on Earth after a deadly virus swept the planet one year earlier. An average man "who likes Star Wars, Twinkies, and sex", Phil searches North America in his RV for other survivors. After a long journey and returning to his hometown of Tucson, Arizona, Phil believes he is Earth's last surviving human. Just before he commits suicide out of loneliness and a desire for a female companion, his wish comes true, and he meets Carol Pilbasian (Kristen Schaal), a shrill, nagging, and eccentric woman.

I watched the first 4+ double episodes, I think. It had funny moments, but I just couldn't get over the fact that Phil's such a giant jerk. I really wanted to like the show, but he's in every scene, and the only way they seemed to know how to write laughs was to play off his motivations to bang Melissa instead of Carol. Over and over and over again. There was the scene at the end of one episode where he took Melissa down to the bar and introduced him to his "friends", and I figured maybe it was time he grew up a little bit and we could get a new plot maguffin, but no. He went back to being a giant jerk again 5 minutes later. And when the two new women showed up, and he said it was "just him," I turned the show off for good.

To me, it's a one joke show that didn't have to be a one joke show, their point-of-viewpoint-in-every-scene star is an insufferable jerk, which makes it hard to watch. I'm not a fan of cringe-based entertainment, and this is the epitome of that. I'm sure some people really enjoy it (and I've heard other people who really like it), but it's not for me, and I gave it a fair chance because I really did want to like it because of the actors and concept involved.

Lol, yeah. As you go along you start to think the show should've been called, "I Used to Be The Last Man on Earth."

Anywho. It's weird how you hate every character on this show. And the guy who you should hate the most is actually the guy you root for. So odd.

I guess I'm not too familiar with any of his work. Anywho, I'm glad that they're mixing it up here. The entire time I've watched this show I kept saying man if I was this dude I would fucking leave these guys and just start over. Looks like that's what's going to happen. I'm stoked that season 2 will start off similar to season 1, it was a better show that way.
