So this is kind of a big deal...Nike could be implicated in the bribery case...
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/...ion-in-bribes/
Nike would be in violation of the FACPA. Companies have been fined close to half a billion for violating this act. People have been sentenced to 20 years in prison. I don't know if it'll go that far, but it's serious fucking allegations.
This is really snowballing into something huge. UEFA is finally using this as an excuse to stand against Blatter, so much so that they might actually start boycotting.
And the corporate sponsors are starting to sweat.Platini said "enough is enough" and claimed that if Blatter retains power then Europe's football power brokers could pull out.
Platini said: "With everything that happened recently, enough is enough. Many people have had enough.
"We will surely have a meeting in which we will be open to all options. If Mr Blatter wins, UEFA will meet in Berlin to discuss the future of our relations with FIFA."
"[I]t is important that FIFA makes changes now," Visa (V) said. "Should FIFA fail to do so, we have informed them that we will reassess our sponsorship."
Earlier, another major sponsor, Coca-Cola (KO), said the "controversy has tarnished the mission and ideals of the FIFA World Cup." The company said it has "repeatedly expressed our concerns about these serious allegations."
These mofo's would be stupid to step foot in Canada for the women's World Cup. We got extradition with the US.
Oh man, if I were the IOC I would be just as scared.
IOC, that's the crackdown we need
Blatter won, surprising nobody really.
With the way the voting system works in FIFA, there is no way Blatter would lose. Fifa is made of 209 countries and with votes from China, England, Brazil (200 million people) etc...count as equal as smaller countries like trinidad, Montserrat (5,000 people). Blatter gave a lot of $$$ to these smaller countries for development in the pasts so those countries will almost always favors him in an election. The structure of FIFA almost ensures that Sepp is in power. Dude is a master mind, he gamed the system very well.
Heard his hilarious monologue today on LeBatard, lol..
"i like you, you brought me again into the FIFA. ... [congrats to other candidate] ... but i'm now the president of everybody, so i'm the president of everybody"
"The president of everybody." got me. The don has spoken!
No one but the Americans could go after Fifa. U.S. Fighting wars in all fields of the world. ️
http://www.cnn.com/2015/06/01/footba...ion/index.htmlAn embattled former FIFA official has scored a spectacular public relations own-goal by citing an article by satirical news outlet The Onion in an attempt to counter criminal charges against him.
last year's video still relevant as well
Sepp Blatter resigns
http://www.theguardian.com/football/...on-claims-live
What a dick, does election to resign like 1 week after
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL FIFA president resigning. Fastest resigning from a top level position. Ever.
That nigga literally got rehired like 5 days ago, jesus fuck, lol.
He did it so he can choose his own corrupt successor rather than someone who would've brought change being voted in
Wow. I finish watching the John Oliver video and click back to ESPN, and the lead article is "Sepp Blatter resigns." That's some impressive serendipity.
This was on Friday lol
Blatter told Swiss TV on Friday: “Why would I step down? That would mean I recognise that I did wrong.”
I did kinda hope for him getting arrested by a group of Mounties while visiting the Women's World Cup in Canada while yelling "you can not do this to me. I am the president of everybody" but this works to.
