Well when you have a show costing 9 million an episode and it gets a fraction of the views their other big shows get, it's not going to be long for this world.

It's almost as if you came into this thread without reading anyone else's posts. Imagine that.
Everyone agrees that its budget was ludicrous, but they could have cut that in half or more (S1 says hello) without cancelling it. The cast, by the end of S2, is also converging, which would logically cut costs.
By cancelling it and a handful of other shows, many with overlapping audiences, they're defying their own mission statement and doing serious damage to people's confidence in them as a network. Why invest in a Netflix show when it likely won't see culmination unless it's a runaway hit?
It's their fault they can't budget their shows properly.
I can't say I was surprised when I heard this. Netflix waited a really long time to renew it for a second season so I kinda figured a third season would be hopeful thinking. It was a good run though.
personally i'm somewhat glad it got cancelled. I watched it just because the concept was so intriguing to me. the 6-7 orgy/musical/collage moments per episode in the show were so cringe though
there aren't even any orgies in s2 that I remember outside of the christmas special.
The Sense8 Facebook page just posted Lana's letter about the cancellation. Somehow enough fan support got Netflix to green light a 2 hour series finale to be released next year. Yay?

I came here to post it, damn, one of you beat me ^^ I'm not happy it's cancelled, but this is a fucking lightning fast reaction from Netflix realizing, i hope, that this show is different, and while it doesn't make sense for them to renew it for another season, the least they can do is put an ending on it. As liberal fan-wank as the show can get, I generally really like it, and feel it'll be important to a lot of young people for the next decade.
You'll never guess what streaming video website wants to produce season 3.
Spoiler: show
They make a compelling argument lol.
There's no way Netflix would do it though.
