Tales of Berseria (PS3, PS4)

I hopped in with Zestiria when it came out, then eventually played the games earlier in the series. The order I went was Zestiria (PC/PS4) > Symphonia (PC/PS2/PS3/GC) > Abyss (PS2/3DS) > Graces F (PS3) > Xillia (PS3). If you're okay with dated graphics/outdated gameplay, then I'd recommend Symphonia as a good entry point. While being somewhat dated, the gameplay is still excellent and the story is still good. I enjoyed it. My personal favorite is Abyss.

Abyss imo is still the most solid Tales. Symphonia and Vesperia have a lot of praise, Graces has a neat combat system. Berseria is somewhat of a prequel to Zestiria but you don't really need to play both. Other than that most Tales are isolated from each other and just doing their own things, even the handful in shared universes are usually thousands of years apart. The only thing you really miss out on is who the cameo battle characters in postgame are.

If you only play one other Tales game, I would play Vesperia. If you have a 360 it's like 10 bucks on the Marketplace. Easily one of my favourite games ever, never mind my favourite Tales game.

Xillia is a good intro to the series I would say, or Vesperia. But it sounds like Berseria may be as well.

Well with PS4 xbone 3ds and wiiu she doesn't have a lot of choices'

PS4 is zesteria + berseria
Xbone is only vesperia ( if it's on backward list)
3ds is only abyss
Wiiu has none

She misses lots of games like symphonia graces F (w/e people think) both xillia destiny hearts R etc

I ended up picking up Zesteria pre owned today as the other choices weren't available. I'm hoping to keep an eye out for Abyss though. I've just gotten to the point I can play some video games again after my carpal tunnel issues. I appreciate the feedback.

can't you do Symphonia and Symphonia 2 for Wii U? or were those versions bad, I haven't played it since GC days

Edit - Tales of Symphonia 1 and 2 are available on the Wii, could play them on your Wii U

I'm pretty sure Zestiria was 12$ on the Humble store yesterday.

I'd literally suggest watching a Let's Play of Vesperia or something. I'd murder someone for the PS3 version to be out in English on any console or PC, but for now it's still plug in the 360 if you want to play it. I'm pretty sure Yuri has won all the most popular Tales character thing at their festival thing each year, basically since it came out. Vesperia easily had the best characters in my opinion, and some of the best music and top tier combat system.

Yeah, I'm still waiting for a non-Xbox 360 version of Vesperia so I can finally get around to playing it. =/ Steam would be great, but a Sony or Nintendo console would be nice as well. I may someday just cave and pick up a super cheap Xbox 360 for it though.

I'd love for them to re-release all the Tales games on PC. Vesperia on PC would be awesome ;__;

Just do yourself a favour and buy a cheap 360 somewhere. I think the only chance of ever seeing it re-released is for some kind of anniversary event (whether Tales' anniversary or just Vesperia's). Any fan of the franchise owes it to themselves to play Vesperia.

I will most likely do so at some point. I just got some hope in them rereleasing it when we got the Symphonia remake and newer Tales games starting to get Steam releases lol.

I just know that immediately after I get a 360 and Vesperia, they'll release it on Steam or somewhere else!

Symphonia 1 is on wii? I though it was gc + PS3 + steam only
