Not sure what level you're supposed to be but generally they get stronger the more you kill, and are stronger than stuff in the area. They're usually just annoying based on type though, the blob thing, beast and dragon thing are super easy, everything else is just annoying (or the bee which is cancer).

I find what typically makes the dire mobs difficult is which invulnerable adds you get stuck with. Like two casters or two bees or any two fast enemies just makes things way harder. Unless I'm retarded and there's a way to kill the adds.

The dire mobs are always stronger but I was level 44 going in to the Ruins and that dragon thing spawned as a level 88 and dropped 110k gald, it just caught me off guard because I went from slaughtering the ape thing in 20 seconds to getting chunked by the dragon every time I missed a dodge.

Yeah their level is kinda ridiculous sometimes and some mobs can be annoying (usually I just set everyone to defense the fuck away and Velvet everything) but it's usually worth it if it the mob type is good.

I'm pretty sure the only one that doesn't easily kill you is that whaling arm flailing thing.
