Summer 2015 Anime Season Thread

Really enjoying Ranpo Kittan: Game of Laplace

After I saw the first episode I wanted more immediately, but then watched the second and felt very... weird? The whole case was hilarious in a kinda bad way, but it made me want to see where they will go with it, lol.

So I finally bit the bullet and watched a few new shows now that we're mostly a couple episodes in. I wasn't really drawn in with my first impressions but I figured why not give a few a try. My opinion if anyone cares:

Working Season 3- Second episode was way better. I suppose having to catch everyone up on what all the characters were like was a given considering how long it's been.

Durararararararara- Same old same old, but still just as good.

Classroom Crisis- Pretty interesting so far. Could potentially be a sleeper hit or a total disaster given where/how they take it from here, but the first 2 episodes were enjoyable. Worth checking out.

Jitsu wa Watashi wa- The art-style of the manga really kind of turned me off. But the anime is actually quite nice in comparison. And even then, I checked out the first couple chapters and the manga itself wasn't really that unappealing, it's just the really god-awful, bug-eyed manga volume covers that bother me lol. Show is pretty charming so far. I was expecting the class-rep to be a "Haruhi" style Nagato robot chick, but her twist in episode 2 genuinely caught me off guard and was pretty entertaining too. Definitely worth checking out.

Joukamachi no Dandelion- This show has been charming so far. It does kind of lack in the drama/intrigue department as there doesn't seem to be a clear conflict. My gut feeling is it'll eventually crumble into some siblings feud, but I really hope it doesn't go that direction. Maybe give it another episode or two before checking it out >_>

Himouto! Umaru-chan- Surprisingly cute and enjoyable. I thought the little bits of the manga I checked out on batoto were kind of dull, but the anime really brings it to life. Worth checking out for sure for a comedy.

Prison School- No explanation needed. Just go watch it.

Dragonball Super- Again, no explanation needed.

I think that's everything new that I've checked out so far. There are still the odd show here or there that I might look into if I have more time, but what I thought was originally a really boring season actually had some charming shows.

God Eater Ep2

I really hate the protagonist. why couldn't they just focused on the characters we care about. the OP I was not impressed. It was bland for me.

Also Ufotable should have just delayed the anime to fall, they're clearly having a hard time animating the show on time after Fate/Stay Night.

Prison School Ep.3

This is by far, by a wide, long, incredibly large margin, the most ridiculous show I've ever seen. Ever. And I love it. The simple fact that it takes itself so seriously and the stakes are always well beyond life and death just make it so brilliant. The animation is top-notch, the music is so goddamn intense, the characters are so absurdly ridiculous. I don't read the manga at all, but I have to imagine the anime is doing a great job of telling the story and building the world.

Maybe it's just me but it feels kinda like they are just trying to pack as much of the story into each episode that they can. The manga is IMO better, not that the anime is bad or anything. The pace when reading just felt better to me. Also some of the censoring seems a bit excessive. Is it really not ok to show panty wedgies and groping breasts? I feel like I've seen this in other animes uncensored.

So I dunno who's watching Gekkou Gurashi but this is legit one of the creepiest shows I've seen for a while I feel like I can't explain because I don't want to ruin it. It makes me feel super uncomfortable and tense and I love it, this could be amazing I hope it's amazing.

So I've watched the first 4 episodes of GATE. I like it so far. Has been a sleeper anime this season for me. I may give this School-Live one a shot next.

GATE has been enjoyable so far. Nothing amazing. But better than shit like Chaos Dragon too. Hell, the dragon in GATE was so much cooler than the Chaos Dragon one.

Didn't like ep 4 of Charlotte. I hope this isn't really the direction of the show. Lots of really annoying moments (most of them involving the new girl character). Anyone else feel this way or is it just me?
