Yep.
Yep.
I was commenting more on the fact that this just opens the door for people to be all upset about "muh nostalgia" when the developers said point blank that the game would change dramatically if they approached this project.
Also, I don't quite trust SE to change something as dramatic as this and not muck it up with timed presses and QTE. It's just opening the door to having to manually aim for Ungarmax or have Cross Slash whiff if not within range of the target. Even money says Omnislash becomes a Renzozuken trigger type attack.
Also, what happens to the Cover materia now? Or Long-Range? Even some of the command materia like Double Cut and Throw.
tl;dr - It's not the system itself that's problematic for me. It's I don't trust SE to transition something that was not built for it into as it is now without ruining it.
I mean, 15 had a cover system as well. I don't see what the big deal is.
I haven't played 15 yet.
The cover stuff is definitely optional in FF15, I can't even remember using it much, if ever.
Outside of a couple forced moments, I'd imagine it'll largely be the same for this. The only time 15 tried to force it on you was chapter 13 really. But if you were overleveled, you could just beast through it lol
Oh and there was that one time you raided a Niflheim base. But yeah, other then occasionally recovering hp/mp, never used it as warping to high points was better
Well cover(As shown in the picture not long ago) and long range are just naturally build in and are actual gameplay mechanics ditto with throw most likely while double cut/4x will probably just be damage modifiers, i mean just a little thought and pretty all materia can be converted to a be useful in a action system.
People are gonna be getting their panties in a twist over 'mah nostalgia' any way SE did this but will be the same people to bitch and moan when you tell them just to go play the original if thats all they wanted so in the end, haters gonna hate.
hmm.. so if its action-based and not command-based, then the command menu on the bottom left of the battle screenshots are going to be pretty KHish?
I just hope they weigh the attack button properly so its not that button mashy.. and provide proper target locking.
also magic and stuff had better be automatic targeting.
I hope Sepforoth is in the game along with the arm gun guy.
If they follow the KH style (Which with Nomura is somewhat likely), they'll probably have 2 targeting types. Soft auto-target which basically just aims you at the nearest mob, and the hard auto-target that you can specifically engage to stay focused on a certain enemy/part of an enemy. So yeah, I'd say it's safe to assume Magic will mostly be auto-target even in the 'soft' mode (depending on how the magic works of course)
I thought arm gun guy was in the standard release not the gold dlc
Dayne?
Dyne.
Dye. With an i. ._.
Get gud.
