Oh my god I bust out into tears when they cut away to it during the Sony press conference I could not believe it.

Suzuki's only asking for $2m though? He's got to have SOME publisher in the wings, right? You can't make a video game on $2m, and Suzuki develops HUGE games. This is just to show whoever that there's rabid interest, I would hope.

($1.2m, might break the Reading Rainbow record at this rate for quickest kickstarter to reach goal.)

Good chance like with other AAA devs (current or not) they already had the work going but the kickstarter is the extra push/interest basically. So while the funds obviously help, realistically no one will fund a 70-227m+ project. Shenmue III long as more than likely been in production and just on the back burner since iirc they developed all 3 games KIND of at the same time so they kept the flow properly going. But we know the history.

I still remember waking up that Xmas morning to bust out Shenmue I and going through that 3 disk game. Didn't have that much excitement or anything until FFIX came out.

I'm curious if the Shenmue series has such cult status in Japan and abroad as it does in the West. Has Asia been waiting for this as well? Maybe this is a stupid question but it's hard to know.

Can confirm that it's a cult following on both sides of the world. You just don't hear a lot of people talk about it. But this is huge. Mostly because I want to know what the fuck those god damn mirrors are suppose to do.

I'm done with games for this year.

Shenmue III, KH2.5 CE, Heavensward CE also for the woman, not to mention all of the digital content and other games I've gotten.

Never burned such a gigantic hole in my wallet over the last two years over video games than ever, lol.

Would easily drop another 500$ for say, Megaman Legends 3.

I hope it hits 4m+ I won't lie, I spent an -ungodly- amount of time playing Outrun/Space Harrier in between my actual..quest. Even fucking fork lifting job to the point I ran out of time before.

Shenmue 2 got released NA on original xbox, it was originally a DC release but JP and EU only. Due to popular demand tho, the EU version was released stateside for a very limited time in select EB games/Babbages stores. Luckily enough i nabbed one of these EU babies.

I got one of the Shenmue 2 for Xbox dvds. It also came with a story recap for 1, contemplating just playing through it though, not like this game will be out in less than a year.
