Death Note

I haven't seen thread about this incredible good anime, which has left the best possible impression on me! I have watched this series three times and I'm planning to do that again.
The story follows Light Yagami, a high school student who discovers a supernatural notebook that grants its user the ability to kill anyone whose name and face they know. The series centers around Light's subsequent attempts to create and rule a world "cleansed of evil" as "God" using the notebook, and the efforts of a detective known as L to stop him.
Light and L are both superintelligent so we somehow have the clash of two deductive titans! I think that you can't be fan of both of this characters but one will win your heart.
Of course like most of anime this one was written by manga, so you can read manga if you like it more, but i'm not that type of person! :D

On left side is Kira and on right is L this creature between them is Ryuk and he is shinigami, he has very important role in this anime.

I forget when the anime sub-forum was created, but I have a hunch it was after Deathnote, which would explain the lack of thread. But yeah, have seen it back in the day. Enjoyed it for a while but it's not one of my personal all-time favourites.

I usually prefer mangas over anime, but this is one of those cases where it works just that much better as a show.

Great series anyway, basically became a classic the moment it came out.

Because of that I always thought Death Note was a little overrated. The last 12 or so episodes are so mediocre.

The author wanted to end it with L dying but they dumped a truck load of money on his doorsteps to keep going because it had become so popular.

Which would make sense given the nature of the second half of the story, and how naturally the series could have ended without it.

I wished the series ended with L's death too as Near was horrible. However, I liked seeing Light go batshit crazy once he realized he was trapped at the end. That's probably my favorite part of this anime.

that guy flawlessly copying the notebook in probably under 8 hours, which naturally led to Light getting fucked.

Let's face it. It ended with L dying. Light got the march music, he became overlord of earth.
