I think the first recipe comes from an NPC in Tenderville, the next two don't come for a few more towns over.

I got 3 recipes in Floneia as I was leaving to head to Kir's town. And one before that, I forget exactly where. It was on the other side of the Frosty Caves, though.

Tenderville is first, then I got 2 recipes when returning to Floneia (after the Tenderville discussion / letter with Dinas). Guess I missed one if Classik got 3; don't care too much right now given food is kind of a novelty for me. You can get recipes from almost any talking NPC it seems; I got one from a basic gate guard IIRC in Floneia.

Also, another sick XP farming spot with 3000 XP per kill right after Kir's village:

That fight was my first game over because I didn't expect the difficulty compared to normal monsters.

Pretty sure everyone died or fled there, shit looks like the same bi-pedal foxes as before except ever so slightly darker. Give away to me was the 1500 HP that popped up, but still tried. Freeze spam is a bitch.

It also drops a bunch of rare crap. It's basically the magic pot from FFVII, but easier; doesn't really make sense to me.
Don't even need an ability or spell. Just wait until it jumps off the snowball and hit it with a regular attack and hit momentum bonus. At least one hit always lands and kills it.

Wait what? I always have momentum up from the sneak attack and I missed almost every attack from what I remember because I tried to do it with Blowbeat for the link/momentum/etc bonuses; could easily be wrong, but I just found one magic cast to be the fastest method.

As far as the recipes goes. I got my first one in the first town that had a chef form a girl right next to him. From what I can gather it will only trigger if you already have all the ingredients. For example in the town after the frost cave I talked to a guard and he did nothing, then I got an ingredient and spoke with him again and I got a recipe.

Basically unless you are following a list just talk to all NPCs every time you get to a tow, even if you have already been there.

He does seem to have higher evasion when he's standing up on the snowball. But, as long as I wait until after he jumps off it really hasn't been an issue for me.

I waited for him to fall off the snowball; on the snowball even spells miss from what I saw. The buff is "perfect evasion" or something like that.

Yeah it was a surprise in length compared to everything before it, but there was a great story bit in the middle of it! (and you are now caught up to me)
