Agree with this; simply being able to park on the couch and play a nostalgia-laden RPG with great music is just a good time.

Has anyone been able to acquire recipes for the chefs yet or temper weapons? I just finished the Frost Cavern and haven't gotten a single temper item yet.

Weapons aren't sellable. Maybe in the late game you're able to forge them all to a similar strength or something, or maybe you get something for maxing out a weapon. The only things sellable are items, food, spritnite, and materials.

    Few other bits of info.

Selling materials counts for any future spritstones that become available. Think of it as giving the NPC a stock of items; it only depletes when you claim spritstones.

Fluxs are stackable and can be carried over between talismans. I haven't gotten a tech to gain the same flux twice from the same talisman, not sure if that's possible or just really rare. It seems your best bet is to power up specific techs with the fluxs you want, then swap to a different talisman to unlock other (or the same) fluxs. My Cyclone has 5 fluxes now, it's become pretty beastly and only costs 9 MP. I've also had techs that weren't used in a fight gain a flux, but that seems rare. Could have been due to a singularity, the window doesn't stay open long enough to process what the effect is. Although I did catch a glimpse of one that said all materials that have been dropped will drop from the remaining enemies. Had like a 30 mat drop from a group of four enemies with it.

Great farming method is to get a preemptive attack (approach back or side of mobs, everyone starts with full ATB and 1 momentum charge) AoE en-elemental damage with Setsuna or the rabbit ear chick, then combo Endir + Nidr for Blowback. Hits strong enough to one shot all trash mobs I've come across, plus you get 5+ drops from each from Momentum, Light/Time/whatever element, Link, Overkill, and Debuff kills.

Snow Chronicles reveals how drops are determined too. Most enemies have: Normal, Rare, Fire, Water, Lightning, Shadow, Time (elemental), Exact, Momentum, Overkill, Debuff, and Link (combos) kill drops. All of them are also unique. I haven't used much food, but the few pieces I have used seems to provide straight double drops. Food is expensive as hell after your free piece though, specially since it only lasts a single battle.

Food items in the world and maps seem to have a 5ish minute respawn timer. Beyond getting multiples for recipes that require like ingredients, I'm not sure of the use in grinding them though. They're only used to unlock the recipe from an NPC, you don't need it to purchase food. All the chefs in the world appear to have unlimited ingredients, but zero creativity until you come along and tell them how to do their job (give them a recipe). Derp.

Singularities are all recorded in the Snow Chronicles as well, this doesn't help too much if you trigger a new one mid-battle but for later use. I got my first recipe from Tenderville. You can buy Mithril tempering material from the castled up town vendor, whichever town is the one where the guard sends the mom and daughter to Tenderville. Just after the Ice Cave

3 momentum stars doesn't activate 3 attacks on the same attack. It's just 3 charges so you don't haveta wait the next turn.

Yeah and I've noticed some abilities heal the party instead of adding an extra attack.

So, I got to Floneia Citadel and found Weppi sells Mythril. (my 1st tempering material). So I did a bit of farming in Frost Caves, which seems pretty easy with Momentums. I average about 8k gil a run. And did some testing.

Nice, so with enough grinding any weapon can become comparable to what you're currently using at the moment. The weapons I've seen all say 0/4 times for tempering with mithril. Imagine there's a new tier of material that'll let you take them further. Would let you make good use of the weapons with en-elements at any level of the game at least.

Alright, my pro tip of the day: That spritnite (black) Glowly-Poly with ~36 HP in the mountain pass before Kir's village is ridiculous. Just got like 10 levels (12>22) in 25 mins going in and out killing that thing for 1000 XP per; that's like triple any boss fight and it's super easy with just one magic ability/spell. It also drops a bunch of rare crap. It's basically the magic pot from FFVII, but easier; doesn't really make sense to me.

Ok, I just got my first recipe to show up at the Chef. And, at least, atm. I'm not really sure i like the food system. I got Yellowtop Carrot Soup. Look's nice and all. EXP boost, drop rate increase, and water elemental resistance up. But, one of them costs 2280 gil, and according to the food tutorial, one food only lasts one battle. 2280 is kind of expensive for 1 food per battle, lol.

You may be on to something there. I just beat the airship battle and right after Weppi and Talli's had 4 new weapons. Each of which started at 50 attack innately. So I bought a Mythril to test with. And every stat I saw was already "maxed" when I went into the temper screen with the mythril. Except for Nidr's M Attack on the new weapon which could be raised from 37 > 40.

Are you talking to everyone in town? NPCs will ask if you have certain ingredients, ask you to give you them, then give you a recipe to take to the chef to make for you.

Well, in his defense, they will only ask you if you have the ingredients if you already have them in you're inventory. If he's missing one of the four ingredients required. The NPC won't say anything special.
