I feel like I'll be the only one playing this for a while but fuck it.

I'm about 3 hours in. Game's p good. The combat isn't particularly great, but it's serviceable. There's some weird, stiff, unnatural fidgeting while in dialogue that reminds me of mainline Mass Effect games. Problems aside, it has one of the best ways of marrying the mechanics and story together that I've seen in a while. I'm not in love with it yet, but it's definitely keeping my attention.

I've picked it up but haven't played more than an hour or so, so far I agree. I picked it up because of how they said that your actions would affect everything, wondered how they'd do it, and have now started to see how.

Was about to ask this exact thing. Bloodlines with the fan patch is still great today.

That's an all time favorite of mine, as well. It scratches a bit of that itch, but I don't think it will ever be able to come close to matching it. The atmosphere is definitely not on par with it, but there are only a handful of games that ever could be.

Also, play with a controller. The default K&M controls are disgustingly bad.

Edit: to add, if I had to describe the closest feeling game to this, I'd say Dishonored.

Taking a short look at the "Buy, Wait for Sale, Rent, Never Touch?" review it looks like a fun game. I prefer 3rd person to 1st person so it's a huge plus to me. I didn't realize this isn't a AAA game so perfect graphics and what not are not a deal breaker for me. Game can be bought on greenmangaming for $37.50 right now while on sale. Also, can get cash back by going through Ebates.
