My friend Stig works at Respawn. I shot him a message on FB to see if they are looking for any technical artists. I think they're in the San Fernando Valley though. I don't know where that is in relation to you guys.
Thanks to those shooting out emails! You all rock!
Late to the party, but congratulations on the job Ksandra! I'm so happy for you and I look forward to your stories from the trenches.
Hey guys!
Thanks for the a congratulatory stuff, it has been a fun ride for the last few months. (Ksandra's Husband if you did know)
As well thanks to everyone willing to help me out as well. I guess I can give a little background to my work history.
For the last 6 years I've worked in a specialized part of the VFX industry, Stereo Conversion. So specialized that a lot of the work we do no one else in the VFX industry really cares about. I've heard from co-workers that when they had a chance to talk to recruiters that if you worked in Stereo Conversion, you shouldn't even mention it in the resume. Honestly I don't know why, but I can see in a way cause Stereo Conversion basically flooded the market with "VFX professionals". Both companies I worked for hired people straight from college, not even caring about their Reels and Portfolios. On top of that the pay is poor and hours are terrible, and overtime is a needed thing to do for money not a luxury. I can rant all day long on it honestly. So yeah, I worked 6 years in an industry that I have absolutely nothing to show for it, mainly cause most companies don't care about what we did.
Anyways, as Ksandra mentioned, I am trying to get back into animation in any sort of fashion. Whether it be video games or film/tv. Prior to me working in Stereo Conversion I did specialize in character rigging and was a TD for a small company that I worked for. I have a thing for putting things together and figuring out how things work.
But yeah my brain is melted right now, and thank you to everyone that gave us some positive vibs to keep the madness going.
It's still a bit early, but does the experience in Stereo Conversion lend itself to having a head start in maybe working with Oculus/VR material?
(Doubt it, but you never know.)
