From what the previews show, it just looks like the VR will be a third person view so in reality.. they've taken a monitor, curved it, and shoved it against your eyes and dubbed it "Virtual Reality". Amazing.

So yeah, they did even less work than I expected
But but but... all the butts...all the upskirts.. ; ;
I mean, you could technically go into first person view for the full creeper experience.
Need to fantasia into a lalafell then :/
Youtube version of the stream has been added so we don't have to sit through the NicoNico ridiculousness
Heard it was mostly the mini game and merchandise talk, plus delay until November. Looks like I picked the perfect time to take a break from this game.
I worried as well but I'm thinking theres going to be some variable to being able to goto islands and you can just enter willy nilly like how you can teleport to hunts. Odds are your FC's airship exploration ties into going where you want when you want and there might even be a cost to entering since they mentioned the new gear can be turned in for "points" but that might just mean GC seals.
I doubt FC airships will have anything to do with it beyond maybe optional flavor text or being able to access the zones from your house (which wouldn't make much sense actually, we don't exactly have docks on our roofs).
They cannot make FC airships a requirement without fucking over a shitton of the playerbase.
They've already said you could access the content from the airship dock in Ishgard if your FC doesn't have an airship.
I don't see what being in an FC would have to do with anything beyond having an airship.
I wish they would have made FC airships a requirement. Might make recruiting a bit easier. Right now FCs are 100% pointless in this game. There's no real reason to have one.
Until they fix the problems with housing (haha) they would never gate content behind something that people literally have no way to access.
They are kinda useless, and that makes it hard to retain numbers when people go on breaks. You either have statics, people logging on for content rushes (tokens/hunts/ect.), PVP (which usually forms a linkshell for more members without a FC restriction) or just general bullshitting, and most of that can be done in a linkshell. FC buffs aren't keeping anyone either logged into the game or within individual FCs.
Ultros did away with FC statics back in FCoB. Look at our progression thread: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...ression-Thread
The concept of FC statics just doesn't work anyway. I might be hypocritical because I run my own FC static but fact is it's extremely limiting, especially if you aren't a hardcore-centric FC.
It is. Its just really tough, especially when non-staticed members look to the FC leads to build -them- a static as well, and will seek greener pastures if they can't get one.
I love the game, but there are just some tough areas I don't feel were fully thought through. There's time to change some - there's always time to change things in a MMO - but I don't even know if these things are designs that they either want to or can feasibly address.
Regardless, if you build it, they will come. Design content in the game that brings people together without styming their attempts to congregate, and people will show up. Its too hard to do that right now. Too restrictive.
Honestly the fact your server is still defining groups as an amalgamation of FCs is strange. We've always gone by (increasingly ridiculous) team names rather than FCs. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...ad-Heavensward
I outright would not join a group that required me to be in their FC, nor did I ever force others in my old group to be in my FC. There's plenty of chat options, just make a linkshell.
