Eh...
Eh...
He went through a period of turning up drunk to public events and acting like a total wanker.
idr how i saw it for the first time, but i spent like 8 hours that same day watching episodes. god its great.
You guys think its cuz Colbert does too much politics for a late night show that isn't on Comedy Central? I feel like neither of the other 2 do as much, if any at all.
I think that is certainly a factor, but Colbert has been missing the boat on getting viral YouTube clips to hit millions of eyeballs to convert into viewers. Fallon is the king of the this, Kimmel does it well, too. Corden is killing it with Carpool Karaoke. Conan embraces it begrudgingly (it was his huge online and millennial following that got him the 2nd chance on TBS, I firmly believe). Colbert does have a few noteworthy clips, but he's nowhere near what the others have. David Letterman cited this trend as being one of the contributing factors in his decision to retire. He saw the way the winds were blowing and he wanted no part of it.
So Last Week Tonight won an Emmy on Sunday and this is John Oliver's interview with the press afterwards. I legitimately thought it was a skit or a farce of some kind when I first started watching
That fucking courtesy at the end got me. lol
John Oliver is getting sued by Murray Energy over his Coal episode that broadcasted 4 days ago for defamation.
Shocking.
I absolutely loved that episode. Like, I love pretty much every episode that comes out, but I really really appreciated the way Oliver tackled the topic, which was to validate the concerns miners have, but still giving the reality of the situation and fight for options for the miners.
To revisit some of my earlier comments in this thread regarding Stephen Colbert...well, (mis)fortune happened with Trump being elected and now Colbert's show is consistently doing the best ratings in his show's history. So...thanks Trump?
Yep, lol. He has been very good since Trump's won the election. Trevor Noah is also great too, as long as you're not trying to compare him to Jon Stewart. (He's not that far off.)
I wonder if Trevor will ever hit the peak of Jon Stewart's pizza rant.

His opinions on pizza are 100% accurate.
