Wasn't paying attention to the date...Star Wars Galaxy's Edge Reservations for Disneyland went up today. You can make a reservation for yourself and up to 3 guests (everyone needs valid entry to the park) and entry is only granted if you have a reservation. It will only be this way for the first month.

I've had the date bookmarked for awhile lol. The details went up right at 8am and kept myself on the queue page on 4 different browsers and devices. I had made an on site reservation but likely will cancel that now that I have a free one.

A bit more information regarding SW:GE

For your reservation you will get a colored wristband that signifies what time window you are there for. When your time is up, you will not be permitted to enter into specific shops or the Smuggler's Run ride as CM's are going to be on the lookout to see if your wristband matches the current time. If you do not leave in a timely fashion, you will be escorted out of the park by Storm Troopers.

After the first month of opening, Disney will move towards a virtual queuing system instead of reservation only. Once in the park you will be able to check the status of Galaxy's Edge on the mobile app. If it says it's open, you will be able to go in. If it is capped, then you can put you and your group down in the virtual waiting line and go about your day at the park. Once it is your turn, you will get a push notification and wll have two hours to enter into SW;DE.

Also in other news, Disneyland is offering up a new Annual Pass called FlexPass. It costs $599 and is pretty much identical to the Deluxe Pass, but the difference here is that instead of Blockout days, they are now "Reservation Days". With the FlexPass you are allowed entry Monday - Thursday excluding all of June thru August. On any other day where you would normally be blocked out, you have the ability to login to the Disneyland app or website and then make a reservation to enter into the park. You can make up to 2 reservations every 30 days, and you can make them as far as 90 days out. If you make a reservation and don't cancel, they will keep track of it after 3 strikes of not cancelling, you will be unable to make any new reservations for 30 days.

What sucks though is that people who recently purchased the Deluxe Pass are going to get screwed because they are blocked out most of the summer, however this newer cheaper pass gives them the chance to go on a normally blocked out date.

Also someone leaked the plans for the new Spiderman Ride at California Adventure for Marvel Land and it's pretty sad. Basically the new ride is Toy Story Mania v2...the only difference is that it will employ the use of sensors similar to the Ninjago ride at Legoland so you use your arms to shoot webs from the ride.

What the fuck, I was hoping something that would have been coaster like, but should have known with the size of the area there. Guess they got to keep some kiddie rides around since bugs land got crushed.

Honestly they should've just went with an Avengers ride motion simulator. They could easily do something storywise like they use Ant-Mans tech to shrink the audience and you ride inside IronMan's helmet or something during a large scale fight.

Shanghai Disneyland already has an Iron Man motion simulator ride similar to Star Tours, it’d probably be easy to port over.

Not really. It pretty much eliminates Blackout dates and replaces them with the reservation dates. The $800 deluxe pass already has June 21 - Aug 18th blacked out. This cheaper pass can potentially get you in during the blackout dates the $800 passes have.

Now what is lost are spontaneous visits unless those days are not reservation days.

    This. Here is a comparison

If you got the Deluxe Pass for $200 more, you can get guaranteed visits for 24 out of 92 days June thru August. The other 68 days you are completely blocked out. With the FlexPass, you aren't guaranteed any of the 92 days, but you still have a chance to go during those days where the Deluxe Pass is blocked out.

Also I read the information incorrectly. You can hold up to 2 Reservations at a time, and you cannot make a new reservation until you've used up one of your previous reservations. So it is possible you could set up a reservation for say June 8th and June 15th, but you won't be able to make a new reservation until after June 8th and by that time, all of June might be reserved and so you will need to compete against others for the next reservation date 30 days out.

That's a lot of work when you're willingly giving a company $600-800 to visit them and spend more money.

Just raise prices another $75 and keep the poor folk out cause this is obscene.

They might be pricing some people out but they’re also rapidly approaching a point where the money is better spent on other types of vacations lol. Just got home from Hawaii for less than we usually spend going to Disneyland.

A lot of people have said that a pass with X number of visits would work. I wouldn't mind that as long as it was reasonably priced. I do have a feeling that they are simply testing this FlexPass and they are going to do away with the Deluxe Pass and replace it with this one.

I dont know why they even do annual passes anymore. Just make everyone pay a flat fee every time, clearly the demand for entrance is there. I like Disney, I really do, but I cant be bothered to spend nearly a grand on annual passes and have to deal with blackout dates like that. Personally I feel affronted by it.

We were looking at doing a family vacation there recently and for 7 Adults over the course of 3 days (Single Park Ticket) and staying at the Disneyland Hotel, the whole price was around $4000 which broke down to about $570/person. So it is doable under the right circumstances but still pricey.

That is ridiculous for a day filled with elbow to elbow walking thru Disneyland and 60min+ wait times for the rides...I just cant. I'm forever burned from 90+min wait times at Halloween horror nights and these parks are just not worth it @_@

If you're waiting 60+ minutes in line, you are not using fast pass/max pass correctly. Astylla and I have the Deluxe Passes (with the Max Pass addon) this year instead of going the non blackout date passes that were about 250 more expensive each in part due to a disneyworld trip, and in part due to her work schedule, she's off sun, mon, tues and not even back to work till midnight wed night/thurs morning so it made more sense to go with the black out date option and save money.

Honestly if you are using FastPass/MaxPass you can easily do a minimum of 10 rides in less than 8 hours. If you are doing Disneyland only and get there at rope drop or during the first hour of the park being open, always get a FastPass for Space Mountain or Matterhorn while hanging out in Adventure Land doing Indy and Big Thunder Mountain. Most people just run straight for Space Mountain leaving these rides to have very short wait times early in the morning of less than 10-15 minutes. Last time I went with friends we got on Big Thunder three times in 30 minutes while waiting for our Fast Pass for Space Mountain to activate.

A lot of adults who haven’t been to Disney since they were kids have fond memories going as a kid and just going with the flow and stuff. Those days are long gone. If you try to show up at a Disney park without a plan for hitting certain rides and attractions and take advantage of the fast pass system, you are gonna have a bad time.

Now, there is certainly an argument to be made that such intensive planning and preparation can defeat the purpose of going on vacation in the first place. It’s not for everyone. But if you lean in and do prep and work the system you can maximize your time, and fun.
