Every year people highly overrate the Ducks.

It's not like the Ducks made the WCF last year, WCSemis 2 years ago, and been a top team going into the playoffs the last 3 years...

Every year people highly overrate the Ducks. They don't have a ton of depth and their defense is pretty suspect. People always seem to act like Fowler is a Top defenseman but hes merely been alright in his career. Vatanen is looking like he'll be very good and Lindholm has looked good in his 2 years but their defense doesn't scare me at all.

I guess your metric for being scared is how likely your Russian husband is to beat you senseless.

It's also not like they have four of the top 30 scoring defensemen in the league, or that four of them combined for 38 points in the playoffs, or that each of those four had a positive +/- despite the Ducks as a team being only +7 on the season.

Also, pretty tasteless to bring up Voynov with what I said had nothing to do with the Kings and I never once condoned with Voynov did.

Also yeah, their defense is a great offensive defense. But at playing defense? Not so great. Lets not forget the Ducks got an easy path to the WCF last year by getting the Jets and Flames.

Where are you getting 4 of the top 30 scoring defensemen? Their highest scoring defenseman was Sami Vatanen and he was ranked 34th?

Not even gonna point out that one series was 3 games shorter, so obv not as grueling or physical by the end of it but;

349 total hits in a 4 game series for ANA/WPG = 87.25 hits a game
630 total hits in a 7 game series for WSH/NYI = 90 hits a game

I think getting Hagelin is a perfect type of move for them. Ducks play up tempo and he can add juice to the bottom six. Silfverberg with another year under his belt intrigues me too. My WCF pick was really just throwing darts since the West is so stacked.

Was looking at +/- ranking, woops. They have three of the top 50 scoring defensemen, and each of those three is under 24. Vatanen, Stoner, Lindholm, Manson and Fowler all have positive CF% and with the exception of Fowler, all have a positive Relative Corsi as well. They all have a positive FF% and with the exception of Lindholm and Fowler, all have a positive Relative FF%. They are good offensively and defensively at even strength. For as badly as you think everyone is overrating them, you're severely underselling the strength of Anaheim's defense.

Chill dude. You know its alright to have different opinions right? You'd think if the Ducks were such a solid defensive team and their goalies were so amazing like people make them out to me that they would some how be better than bottom 3rd in the league in defense.

The Ducks will be good like always, likely be one of the top teams in the regular season. But like every year they will likely choke come playoff time.

Caps/Isles would like to have a word with you.

Hits is a pretty poor way to judge a series considering the bias each location's scorekeepers have on crediting them as its not as well defined as shot on goal or assists. I'd like to think the Pens play in a tough division, but the Metro - including the Caps and Isles - are nowhere near the level of physicality the Ducks and Jets bring. Anyone who turned on the series, especially after Game 1 and the Jets stopped being as shellshocked, would've seen easily how brutal that series was in its short four game span.
