Man, it sure is gonna be fun to watch those all shatter to hell.

Jack has been real good so far in preseason
Yeah, but what about the rest of the Sabres?
Its a sad day when I have to agree with Sep. And if you want to say that Caps/Isles/Ducks/Jets are all tough teams cause they took and dealt hits to the tune of 43.625 hits taken per game for Caps/Isles and 45 hits taken per game for Ducks/Jets, well then the smurfs from Montreal are equally tough and resilient as Ottawa dished 287 hits over 6 games, for an average of 47.83 hits taken per game. The Habs dished 210 hits over those 6 games.
Montreal led Ottawa in possession in games 1 2 3 and 5, and were sub 40 in games 4 and 6. Game 4 was the 1-0 OT loss, where the Habs posted a 39.5% Corsi. Ottawa only dished 34 hits that game (their lowest by far). Game 6 was the 2-0 elimination game, where the habs posted a 39.1 Corsi. These were both very "montreal typical" games..."risk free, get rid of the puck, let Carey steal it, defend the 1 goal lead". Ottawa wound up with 45 hits, but I dont think Corsi tells the tale in regards to possession for that game.
But in regards to what Sep said, its still up to the bias of the scorekeeper at the arena. If the player goes for a hit, which the target mostly evades, the scorekeeper may still opt to consider it a "hit", either through their own assessment, or through orders from the NHL brass ("ramp these numbers up, make the playoffs look more physical" -Bettman). I watched a chunk of that Ducks/Jets series, a LOT of those hits were not "partial evades", those were some heavy hits laid out by both teams.
Heres how many hits each team dealt per game on avg:
Ottawa Senators 47.83
New York Islanders 45.29
Nashville Predators 44.33
Winnipeg Jets 44.00
Anaheim Ducks 41.19
Washington Capitals 38.93
Montréal Canadiens 32.17
Tampa Bay Lightning 32.12
New York Rangers 31.47
Detroit Red Wings 31.43
Pittsburgh Penguins 30.40
Chicago Blackhawks 29.26
Calgary Flames 27.64
Minnesota Wild 27.10
St. Louis Blues 22.33
Vancouver Canucks 19.67
Every other pre-season team is playing their ECHL and AHL rosters though. Did you see who the Pens are icing tonight in Quebec?
Thats p-much Montreal's actual roster (+Scherbak) vs the WBS Penguins + Letang, old man Gonchar and Swiss Cheese.
Looks like they're playing all their French players (pascal, letang, fleury, Perron, etc) since they'll be back in their home province... All the starters resting for the big hockeyville game in Johnstown tomorrow
God the prospect that Tanner Glass might not crack the NHL roster is more exciting to me then water on Mars
Goaltending issues?
