Oooh I want this for my phone
Oooh I want this for my phone
ffix android are you fucking shitting me?
day one for sure
this also brings up the question: ffvii android when? :/
Mainly curious if it's an emulation or a reverse engineered native client.
That said, all they have to do is fix the battle load times and the game improves ten-fold. That shit was a complete drag on the PS1 original without the magic of fast-forwarding in an emulator.
Spoiler: show
Why does PC get shitty mobile ports? This is the worst, my favorite FF game on pc....dumbed down for mobile users. Great.
Tbh I didn't mind the slowerish approach in IX simply because by time you get auto-potion, auto-haste and auto-...anything the game is insanely broken because tics doesn't stop when an action happens, so you can literally go from critical (like in ozma) to fully restored while he's busy spamming Curaga, so I always found it their way of balancing it out kinda. Got annoying in high encounter areas but I was younger so I was never truly bothered.
This game has fantastic side story elements and was one of the ones I enjoyed most compared to the others when it comes to that.
Seeing the chars split up in town and then optionally being to view them interact with one another or with town NPCs was absolutely refreshing and also fleshed many chars out beyond the core story path.
And character interaction between the cast is also great (besides Amarant maybe...).
The also, the haunting tune that is Beatrix's battle song, especially if you're underleveled:
I think I am one of maybe five FF fans on the planet who really just did not like IX all that much.
It's been about a decade or more since I've touched VIII, but I remember the Omega fight simply being:
1) Cast Aura on Squall
2) Use Holy War on party from breaking down Gilgamesh card (iirc?)
3) Spam triangle on Squall until Renzo pops
4) Hope for Lionheart finisher
5) Repeat #3 until Holy War ends, then reapply and continue
Did Meltdown work on Omega? Feel like it did; toss that in the rotation as well if so.
I want it, and I want it now. FFIX is my favorite FF title to date. The story and music <3
3. For what it's worth, IX is my second-to-last numbered FF to obtain a legal copy of (just got it on PSN classics on sale last year), didn't really appeal to me when it came out, and never has since. Only one after/left is 13-3.
Well no shit its a simple fight if you spam the invincibility item.
The fight is only simple and uninteresting if you want it to be. No different from simply just having your characters absorb darkness while fighting Ozma and turning the fight into a complete snoozefest... like so (link).
Not that you need to do that for it to be super easy.
I know a shit load of people that hated 9, more than any other FF game. Most of these people didn't play x2 11 or 13.
Uh... That is a lot of AI manipulation to achieve that kill, your average player isn't going to be able to replicate that. Just because you can mitigate Doomsday doesn't mean you suddenly have the fight won because the rest of his attacks can easily flatten your ass.
IX's combat and stuff always looked good but the art style always bothered me.
A.) There is not a lot of AI manipulation in that. He makes it sound a lot more difficult than it really is.
B.) Its only marginally difficult to achieve (a solo kill) at Lv1 (but the fact that its even possible should tell you something)
C.) Most of Ozma's attacks are not in any way difficult to deal with. Its the fact that he counters that generally makes Ozma not so straightforward
D.) The only truly dangerous counter is Doomsday
E.) Quina alone makes the fight easy even if you don't want to make it Doomsday itself by giving it no valid targets, just take his MP and he's a joke.
I COULD KEEP GOING BUT I'M GOING TO BED INSTEAD!
IX was my first FF game, really got me into RPG's.
I could never beat ozma. He would wipe my ass so hard when i got him even close to low HP.
and this song is fucking amazing.
My biggest problem with 9 is that there's no reward in beating the harder bosses or even doing all that crazy stuff. Excalibur 2 is a terrible reward for a speed run and, even worse, I couldn't get it even if I wanted to because I played the PAL version. Skipping the whole game for a sword that's barely better than the second best option and has no unique abilities is simply not worth it.
