I can't even about any of these prices considering the game is $10 on PSN. I bought it for 5 on discount for my Vita.
SE overcharges like crazy for most of their mobile offerings, but $17 for a mobile remake is still way too much.
Yeah, if it wasn't for the fact both the wife and I would be able to play it on separate iphones, i'd probably hold off.
Any word on if the god awful load times are better? I tried to replay this recently on ps1 and ps3 and just couldn't because every battle took forever to load.
Loading seemed good from the stream I watched
The price is on par with most of their mobile games; IV, V, and VI are $15.99, Tactics is $13.99.
They do 50% off most of their games at least twice a year(just had one at New Year's) so I'll hold of on this for now. Plus, it'll end up on Steam in a few months I'm sure.
"High Speed" exploits/cheats are generally just a direct increase to the framerate cap.Originally Posted by Steam
When you lift the framerate cap while emulating FF9 (with epsxe, for example), the game engine renders the battlefield faster as well. Basically does away with load time issues altogether.
I think he means loading, without activing the boosters
Ah. Unfortunately, I seriously doubt they'll change that, or anything at all relating to the core game engine outside of what the boosters do to character stats/gil/ability crystals/encounter rate/game speed. These all seem like they'll be simple O/I boolean toggles that won't change the formulas by which the game calculates damage, loads fields, or does anything else it wasn't programmed to do in 2000.
All other adjustments so far are purely cosmetic: new smartphone-compatible menus and UI; upscaled res on FMV and images used in the character models, backgrounds, tetra master cards, etc. I'm afraid you'll be hearing that classic FF battle baseline at the start of every fight as Uematsu intended.
Edit:
Looks like SE went the same route they did with the Aerith > Aeris debate and are favoring the Japanese "VIVI" to the NTSC "Vivi" in their official press media:

Always liked his last name, though; very fitting.
I might buy this. I've never played 9 and heard nothing but great things about it.
Half the people I know stopped playing FF games because they hated 9, the other half liked it.
I remember buying it for a co-worker and regretting not buying a copy for myself.
It's my favorite by far, first and only FF I played straight through from start to finish. Every other one I got bored of and stopped playing and had to finish at a later date, sometimes years later.
Damn this game is way too big for some reason, I only recall it being like 1.7ish GB on the PSP/vita but now it requires 4~8 GB lol. I gotta find a way to put it on my SD card or root my phone (no idea how.)
wasn't game suppose to be 20% off starting today?
