MN Repubs are introducing two new gun bills this year; Permitless Carry, any resident of MN could carry (aka constitutional carry as named by the gun lobby), & Stand Your Ground, which appears to only be enforceable inside a home.

There's a part of me that thinks that Constitutional carry is the best, because there's no profiling when it comes to people who might be carrying illegally. I'll never like Stand Your Ground laws, but generally support the Castle Doctrine half of this one.

My largest issue is that too many people in this country treat guns like toys and not weapons. I'd like to see mandatory safety handling training incorporated as well.

A black guy walking down the street with an AR-15 will still get the cops called on him 100 times out of 100. The idea that there's "no profiling" is pretty laughable.

Whoa is that article biased. First one is any resident that isn't prohibited by state or federal laws and looks there is an optional permit you can get that is open to non residents too

The other one is more a mix of stand your ground and castle doctrine and it doesn't really appear to change the requirements per se so much as add a ton of text to make things more clear into when and how much force can be used as right now it just says "The intentional taking of the life of another is not authorized by section 609.06, except when necessary in resisting or preventing an offense which the actor reasonably believes exposes the actor or another to great bodily harm or death, or preventing the commission of a felony in the actor's place of abode."

Nothing I read in the bill actually seems to change that (though does add things that weren't previously specified one way or another like if you have a duty to retreat both in home and out. Which some light reading suggests it's been applied both ways currently) except they add a forcible felony category to the defense outside of home so things like robbery, burglary, sexual assault, arson, kidnapping, assault, murder/manslaughter though the last several likely would have already counted and last 3 definitely.

Also the presumption of a reasonable belief that there exists an imminent threat was added but it only applies to when a person is using force or stealth to enter your dwelling or occupied vehicle or they are trying remove a person from said dwelling or vehicle. Even then there a bunch of fairly obvious exceptions (like if you are the owner, resident have custody etc). So no you can't just shoot someone down on the streets and be presumed innocent as the article suggests.

That's my point. If there's Constitutional carry in the state, the guy just needs to prove he lives there. In other states, open carry is only shrugged off if you're a white dude.

OCing a rifle is tryhard faggotry of the highest degree. Anyone doing so deserves getting pavement tossed and grilled, regardless of skin color.

And that article is hilariously slanted.

CP is known for lots of snark, I just didn't see any other local news service that was covering it.

I thought that this would be a story about fighting back against Healey's unilateral actions against "Copycat" weapons, but it looks like GOAL is going after the entirety of the 1998 carbine / AK ban.

    1998 carbine
The M4 is the 14.5" carbine variant of the AR-15 which generally run 16" to 20". But I get your intent.

    Healey
    I hear she's pretty popular.

NH becomes the 13th state to becomes Constitutional Carry. The bill went into effect the moment the governor signed it.

A little more on the first one

Gun Training courses would no longer be required, but could still be taken Voluntarily
Police Oppose both of the new Bills
Advocates:"The time and money required to undergo handgun training to obtain a permit can prevent some people from exercising their Second Amendment rights.”

Gun seizures are on the rise at Minneapolis/St Paul Airport. Punishment is $7500 fine and a misdemeanor charge. Their gun could also be confiscated as evidence.

Guns are a growing problem at Minneapolis-St.Paul International Airport. In fact, more guns are being spotted at MSP's security checkpoints than ever before, according to Transportation Security Administration officials. … Here's the breakdown: TSA officers found 18 guns at MSP in 2014. That number jumped to 23 guns in 2015. A record 38 guns were found in 2016. And so far this year, 15 guns have already been spotted through mid-May, which is more than ever before. … Of those guns, the TSA said more than 80 percent were loaded. Of those, the vast majority had a round in the chamber.

So liberals found this video from the NRA today, and it seems to be making the rounds.

They seem to be three months late to the party.

I've never actually seen a lobbying firm issue a rallying cry to violently fight its political adversaries, yet here we are.

Nope, still quiet. Tons of articles since the trial on how silent they have been even though they said they'd comment after everything was over with.

NRA finally comments on the shooting, but it took some pressure from CNN to get the statement
"tragedy that could have been avoided"

Arizona changes their Driver Manual to reflect how drivers should act if pulled over while carrying a firearm. The change was prompted due to the shooting of Philando in MN.

The new edition of the driver's manual, published about a month ago, advises drivers with guns to keep their hands on the steering wheel during traffic stops and tell officers right away that there's a firearm in the car.

It also tells drivers not to reach for anything inside the vehicle without getting permission first. And officers can take possession of guns, for safety reasons, until the stop is completed. The firearms would be returned if no crime has been committed.
