If you break his cap again so he can hit 80 he'll be a good character to bring. Right now, he's just another character stuck at 65 that can be topped by other characters that can hit 80.

I was thinking of bringing him to 80 as well. Was originally thinking Locke, Greg, Vanille, and Bartz, but may drop Bartz & Vanille if I get something else from Lucky/SSB banners.

Knight 5* is one of the best skillsets in the game. We're also getting Saint Cross very soon.

On the plus side I used stored google play credit and banked 25 mythril.

I got Diamond pin... but I already had one so the second one is useless (as I have stronger weps Red can use in VII even with synergy); and Balthier's gun (who I'll never use as I have between Red XIII with lunatic high and Tyro with SG to use as support), but at least I have a decent native 5 star gun for those who can use it and a good synergy wep for 12, I guess.

He can fit into any party with the right gear.

And the right gear is always whatever gear you own because the question of 'Who can use this 5* RS piece?' is always Gilgamesh!

But more seriously he's generally a good option for stuff like Axes, Hammers, Katanas, Polearms and H2H. You can always find a good user for a sword or dagger but not necessarily for the rest.

Like if you compare him against say Sephiroth. Sephiroth gets more Attack. Gilgamesh gets more HP, more Def, more Res, more ability options and vastly superior weapon/armor access. Granted not everyone takes Sephiroth but he's a good example of someone who is overshadowed by Gilgamesh due to his versatility.

My issue with Greg is for me Dragoons and Samurai abilities have little use

I'd prefer Steiner which is already at 80 to greg for Knight abilities

Samurai abilities have their uses but are generally more versatility pieces rather than outright top tier damage (I.e. AoE blind/silence, decent AoE damage, OHKO chance, etc.). They're just kind of there as fillers / infrequent use that can also be covered by other ability types.

Do you have RS in every realm for Steiner? Knight wise, the only reason to use Gilgamesh over Steiner would be personal preference, RS or if you needed to slot that second ability with a Samurai ability. Both are solid characters so I can see why you'd take Steiner.

Steiner and Greg can equip about the same gear iirc, greg only have Katana that Steiner doesn't have, and I do have a VII Katana, but i also got a good sword

and for VII i'd take sephiroth probably over greg


As for Dragoons ability, I don't see which fight where dragoons are NEEDED (now that we done with Silver Dragon for now)

Looking at it, gear selection is probably why I don't take Greg. I have no axes/hammers, 1 katana, and 2 spears. Plenty of h2h, but I generally have a better user for w/e realm I'm in.

Steiner can use Drain Strike and it's a lower rarity spell, easier to hone (and probably already honed to R4 or R5). The one Greg can use is the DRG one which is a 4* ability. I didn't look, but it's likely a higher damage mod, yeah, but it's also a jump which means it's slower to activate.

Slower, higher rarity, but higher mod. Kinda evens out.
