    Riverdale (CW) - Season 4 October 9, 2019

A Darker side of Archie & Friends
Executive producer Greg Berlanti already has a copy of Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa's pilot script for the Archie Comics-driven TV series Riverdale, CW chief Mark Pedowitz revealed today at the Television Critics Association.

The series, which was born at FOX and came to The CW when that network passed on it, has been described as "Archie meets Twin Peaks" and will be darker than previous multimedia takes on Riverdale.

That approach will lend itself to The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror-style Afterlife With Archie episodes, according to previous reports. Aguirre-Sacasa, the chief creative officer at Archie, established himself as one of their best-selling and most critically acclaimed writers in no small part with the Afterlife comics.

    Spoiler: show
The live-action series offers a bold, subversive take on Archie, Betty, Veronica, and their friends, exploring small-town life and the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale’s wholesome facade. The show will focus on the eternal love triangle of Archie Andrews, girl-next-door Betty Cooper, and rich socialite Veronica Lodge, and will include the entire cast of characters from the comic books—including Archie’s rival, Reggie Mantle, and his slacker best friend, Jughead Jones.

Popular gay character Kevin Keller will also play a pivotal role. In addition to the core cast, “Riverdale” will introduce other characters from Archie Comics’ expansive library, including Josie and the Pussycats.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

My girlfriend has been keeping up with it, so I burned though to catch up. Better than I thought it would be, at the very least.

So worth watching the show? I never read archie comics, but watched the hell out of Sabrina the teenage witch (had a huge crush on Melissa Joan Heart).

Is it a must-watch? No. Is it good enough to binge if you're bored on a weekend? I'd say so. I haven't seen the second season yet though.

Edit: Second season ain't out yet anyway, starts October 12 lol.

It's much more serious than either of these.

Finally watched S1 and was pleasantly surprised at how it turned out. I can definitely see them introducing Sabrina in season 2 as a jumping off point for her new series in 2019. It will be interesting how they will deal with the supernatural elements from Sabrina and how they will keep them separate from Riverdale.

I finished watching season 1 the other day. Didn't know anything about Archie aside from names of people in the comics, but I thought the show was pretty great. I didn't really care for the finale cliffhanger though.

Anybody still watching this? Got a bit more interesting in Season 2 with the focus being on the serial killer

My speculation on who the Black Hood is:
    Spoiler: show

I think it's the Sheriff. First, I believe that the guy who shot Archie's dad at Pops Diner was just a random robber because he acted way too anxious after he saw that there was another person in the diner and ended up shooting Archie's Dad when Archie tried to intervene. At some point the Sheriff gets involved and for whatever reason (I am guessing he doesn't like all of the crazy stuff happening in town), assumes the identity of the robber and goes around killing people. Later on in the season, I think Betty's brother is going to show up and a lot of people are going to assume it's him. Hell, even right now they are somewhat pushing the idea that Betty could be the killer in some odd dual personality kind of way, or it could be her father, but I am sticking to my guess that it is the Sheriff. We just need to see if anything happens to Kevin because that would help determine if the Sheriff possibly is the killer.

    I'm still watching, I'm hooked.

    I was with you on...
    Spoiler: show
Sheriff Keller, but since the last episode, I don't really know anymore.

I was kinda interested in Dark Betty being the killer, but that would be a total rip off of the "Never talk to strangers" twist (I just spoiled that movie, in case you've never seen it... sorry.)

The trip to Greendale and the dead (zombie?) deer may be dropping hints about greendales mystical nature - maybe the ghost/zombie of Jason Blossom is killing people lol? ...or maybe they are just preparing for the Sabrina spin off?

This episode in general had an unusual tone to it, and not just the 3-part story arc structure... something else is happening here, I'm interested to see how it plays out.

...and on that note, it appears that Sabrina is going to Netflix - apparently they just ordered 2 seasons. (cant link, at work).
