I mean, they're ripping off everything but content concepts from XI, may as well toss in the Fomors from XI and give us some Fomor NMs. Yoshi can make a BS story about how they're an "underground sect who just hide their face, not like Black mages, but using magic to conceal their identities" or however he'd want to separate em from XI as much as possible.
Pretty sure at this point once we square off with the syndicate people it'll simply have the warriors of dark swoop in, Cutscene kill them, then we wake up safely in bed and thus 4.0 begins.
Because the enemies in FFXI are completely unique to that game, right?
I think Orcs, Quadav, Yagudo and Qiqirn are the only unique things to that title.
I think the point is that FFXI didn't use models from other games but they've always created their own. However FFXI was full of reskinned/recolored versions of the same enemy type (and that's the best case scenario) while FFXIV has a lot more variety in general. At least the reskins in XIV can look quite different and creatures are usually found in a specific place rather than being copy/pasted everwhere to fill zones.
only a wizard of evil, Darth
I'd argue that's a product of not having models to rip off rather than a desire to be unique. As someone who has done some amateur modelling/rigging, I would definitely take advantage of any pre-built models I could get my hands on. Not much point in reinventing the wheel when that time could be spent on something else.
The sonic cylce could be used here.

Reference XI
Bitch and moan and compare a pile of shit with a ceasepool and to which did it better or worse.
Repeate
I swear the XI and XIV communities are so hyper defensive about either title being slightly criticized or being talked about outside of their safe space that it develops into a cancer.
is it as cancerous as your spelling of cesspool
Ceasepool is Deadpool's kid sidekick that's a bit slow in the head.
He can only use nerf guns and wiffleball bats.
