I've got noting against Ford, but shitty plot aside on the last one, he's no action star these days. It was painfully more apparent in the last SW- he's just too slow to capture any sort of believable threat or reaction. I'm all for old guy actors but I don't buy him as an action person anymore

Maybe he'll get a part like Connery, only there won't be a cup of magic water this time.

This is the only way this movie works, he's a man in his 70's. He's older than Connery was in the Last Crusade. Unless they go back with Shia as Mutt they are prolly gonna do this in the 70's with his grandson also nicknamed Indiana Jones and can continue the franchise from there, unless they are just gonna completely retcon the 4th movie out of the continuity.

Crystal as a dumb shut your brain off for 90 minutes wasn't a horrible movie. As a Indiana Jones movie, and following that many years after Last Crusade was an abortion.

Crystal Skull called itself an Indiana Jones movie and deserves to be graded as such. It's a pile of shit one-and-done flick that reminds you that you could have been watching a movie with a Harrison Ford who isn't fossilized.

This has nothing to do with Disney or Lucas or anyone. Ford hates hates hates hates playing Han Solo. And loves loves loves playing Indiana Jones. Disney would have done anything to get him in the first film, and this is what it was.

Considering how much money SW:FA made, I can imagine Disney is ok with taking a loss on this one.

Pretty much this. It was so over the top, it was the closest to an actual Indy scene in that movie.

As is I enjoyed it as a dumb action movie. It just didn't have the wit or charm of a real Indy movie

Nothing shows confidence in a series than ignoring all the buildup you put into your previous film.

Its not like Shia was the worst part of the movie, the few character building scenes they had with him and Jones were some of the better put together scenes in the movie. I know 4 was baaaad but that I'm going to blame more on Indiana Jones being a film from an era where a lot more was acceptable, so 4 is basically a neutered version... and also Lucas.
