    Laptop SSD adapter

Wanting to install my laptop's original SSD as a secondary drive for my desktop, but it doesn't have the right cable connections. From looking at it, I THINK what I'm seeing is 22 pin SATA on the SSD, with the mobo requiring SATA, plus the power supply hookup.

I've tried searching for adapters, but I'm mostly getting USB adapters, which isn't what i need.

    Hmmm, this? http://www.amazon.co.uk/General-Driv.../dp/B00F3QFKNS

UK amazon though, but I think you can easily search for a US equivalent.

is it an MSATA SSD by chance? I havent heard of any normal SSD having a custom connection, unless its in a breakout box

That should be just normal SATA. Power obviously being the long plug and the connection to the mobo being the small plug.

[ignore this, can't be]Hmm, from the picture, is that a molex power plug for the HDD?

Could you pretty please just for my peace of mind take a picture with the power of the HDD pulled out? I'm sitting here with an old molex to "sata power" cable now, and this pictrure is making me wonder if I'm sliiightly nuts. it's those 5 "split" cables on the power plug that does it, molex would be just 4 though, unless they "go back to split" somewhere

The power plug on the photo looks really weird to me, but the pin count and "L" shape of the plastic seems to match the standard SATA power connector. So it could just be my memory playing tricks, can't remember the power plug being that wide...

If you're just moving a laptop SSD (in 2.5" HDD form factor, which is what it looks like to me), then the adapter Stig linked is what you want.

And it's not a Molex connector, that power cable looks like a SATA power cable made by Silverstone/shipped with a Silverstone PSU.

I may, in fact, be retarded. I need no adapters. Went back to take a picture of the other drive unhooked, noticed it had the same extra slot off to the side, tried hooking up the SSD. Worked fine. I guess it was just throwing me off, making me think it was different, cos i'm not used to seeing them unhooked. Sorry for wasting everyone's time lol

That's what I was thinking as well, but I figured you needed to adapt the 2'5" form factor to a 3.5" bay. W/e, you're good now so
