I'm asking how you (golf fans) get enjoyment out of it. Granted the last few holes of a major tournament are compelling if the scores are close even to a non-fan like myself, but I'm wondering where the enjoyment is up to that point, or in a smaller tournament.

I enjoy watching for a lot of reasons. The big two would be:

1) It's relaxing and I can pop in and out without missing a whole lot.
2) I enjoy playing golf (or used to, shoulder won't let me play anymore) and talking about it. My friends do as well.

Smaller tournaments are a different story. I'll keep track, but I'll watch if it's a Major like the US Open or The Masters etc
I think playing the game gives someone more of an appreciation for it too. Like other sports, they make it look so easy, to the point of an outsider thinking it's boring. I'll even include myself in the "OMG soccer is borrrrrrring to watch" group, but that's because never having played, it's just 11 dudes kicking a ball for 90 minutes and me wondering how on earth games could end 0-0 99.99999% of the time. I realize that's not the case, but just to relate it to how people see different sports very differently. Don't get me wrong, I'll appreciate the major events like the World Cup, but asking me to get hype over some random UEFA game and it's not gonna happen.

That being said, I'm half waiting for the "Richy -----> Hackey thread is over there" LOL

That DeChambeau is a pretty neat guy. All his irons are all the same length instead of scaling in size. I'll have to check out some of the golf over the weekend. Was checking Leaderboard / this thread during work today though. Concert tonight, but can veg the rest of the weekend away. haha
