“John Wick” director David Leitch has emerged as the frontrunner to helm “Deadpool 2,” less than a week after Tim Miller dropped out due to creative differences with star Ryan Reynolds.

Leitch, who also directed “The Coldest City,” had initially been eyed by 20th Century Fox to helm its long-in-development “X-Force” movie adaptation.

I fucking loved John Wick, but Deadpool is funny first, action second. I hope Leitch can hit the right balance.

    Composer Junkie XL is out
It is with a heavy heart that I have decided not to score the upcoming Deadpool Movie. I love this character and creating his and the movie’s original score was a monumental chapter in my life, personally and professionally.

Since it was revealed that Deadpool’s brilliant creative director Tim Miller will not be involved in the project anymore, I have undertaken some soul searching. Tim was the driving force behind Deadpool and me getting involved in this amazing project. Deadpool without Tim at the helm just does not sit right with me and that is why I have decided not to be involved in the second chapter.

It was a difficult decision, as I love the project so much and I know how eagerly the next installment will be anticipated, it’s hard to walk away from something so unique, but it also has to feel right.

Hope everyone understands. Onward and upward.

I have faith in Reynolds to keep the train on the tracks, but I'm curious what sort of dispute went on to cause these hiccups.

Alistaire posted a video on the last page about Miller wanting to change the series into something more serious and cast a not so great Cable. So I'm assuming Reynolds was against both of those and they opted to part ways. Honestly, I still have a lot of faith that this movie will be just as good as the first mainly because Reynolds is being so adamant in how it should be done.

This is one of those times where they allow Ryan to do his thing.

I'm pretty sure 90% of the reason the movie was great had absolutely NOTHING to do with the Miller and the music dude.

I don't know about the director, he certainly could've had good influence. But when I think of Deadpool's music, I definitely think of their great use of licensed music more than any original scored tracks, so that doesn't particularly worry me.

This pretty much. Was disappointed with him and Zimmer on the BvS score, so nothing of value lost so far.

I missed the post that one of the John Wick directors is front runner so that guy definitely has my vote now. I just don't want Liam Neesons cable, as terrible as Kyle Chandler would have been I'd prefer him to a 64 year old.

Apparently it starts filming in Vancouver in 2 months but the script is unfinished, no director, and no cast. Pls RyReyn + writers don't let us down.

Salt N Pepa, DMX, and George Michael is literally the only music I remember from the movie.

Leitch has been officially announced as the man at the helm for Deadpool 2. Honestly, Leitch is the perfect man for the job, having wowed audiences with the revenge thriller John Wick and years of work as a stunt coordinator. Whether or not Deadpool will get a canine sidekick for the sequel remains to be seen, but this choice of director ensures that the gritty, ultra-violent vibe from the first film will follow through in the next installment. Chimichangas for everyone!
