If the game is still installing you will see MASSIVE drops in performance. Per a bunch of threads and twitter.
Yeah. I think I'm gonna wait a few more days for performance reviews to settle down with full installs before I choose.
Based on what I've seen so far and just using common sense about how Frostbite performs, a 970/1060 is likely gonna be GTG for a mix of High/Ultra at 1080p60, 1070 for the same at 1440p or all Ultra 1080p, and supposedly a 1080ti is good for 4k60 at Ultra
Not sure how far you are from Long Island MC but they have Asus Dual Fan OC GTX 1060 6GB open box for $204 or $$184 after rebate. While I know you hate AMD with a passion, that same store has a R9 290X for only $130. That is a damn steal even if it's a reference model.
Not close enough for the different in price to matter tbh. Would cost me 30 bucks RT at least.
Ah that sucks. The other two NY stores didn't have any incredible deals on 6GB models. Just food for thought, if you're on a budget you can get a RX 480 4GB for $150~ or 8GB model for around $185. I know I know you've said over and over how you won't buy AMD. Just thought I'd mention I recently ran a Sapphire RX 480 4GB and even stress testing it never went over 57C and was near dead silent with my case sitting about 3 feet from my right ear.
AMD can eat cocks.
I'll probably be an idiot and just order a 1070 over the weekend.
Nothing idiotic about ordering a 1070.
So back to my original question.
4690k + 1070 or should I just nuke the whole thing from orbit and go 7600k + Z270 Chipset + 2x8gb sticks of DDR4 + 1070?
Nuke from orbit.
Figure it saves me the hassle for Stormblood too.
If you've got the cash, I'd whole-hog it. But you would probably get acceptable performance out of the 4690k.
I got my yearly bonus in, I figure since I've had this box for 3+ years I can probably afford to upgrade now.
Honestly if you have the chips to do it you should. The RX 480 and GTX 1060 trade blows and while playing Fallout 4 at 1440p with mods I had some dips and small stuttering. If I was buying Nvidia, the 1070 would be the starting point. Jet.com right now has a few 1070s for around $350 before tax (not all states get charged tax from them) when using a new account and promo code TRIPLE15.

Yeah, that's what I was looking at.
It's OOS at the moment, but I'd F5 this page occasionally to see if it comes back. Zotac GTX 1070 - $309. http://www.ebay.com/itm/292041166887
Hmm. Now the real question is do I want to go Mini ITX or go for a full size build.
