If you haven't already, you may want to do some research and make sure Windows 10 Home supports dual physical processors. In the past, this has never been the case with "home" editions of Windows.

    *edit*

Anecdotal, but for what it's worth:

As far as I'm aware Windows Home 10 will only recognise one processor.
I recently installed Windows 10 Home to a dual CPU system and only a single processor was recognised. I upgraded to Windows 10 Pro and now both are recognised.

That's a good point, I haven't bought an OS yet. I'm still waiting on the motherboard to be delivered.

How do you have 12GB dual-channel memory? 6x 2GB modules?

I'd probably get at least a 650W PSU. You could get by with a little less but it's good to have a little headroom.
It was purchased that way. Like I said, prebuilt and I don't know too much about PC stuff, so I'm not even sure. Lol

Edit: Also, thanks. Going to be an awesome bday present from my fiance.

Edit 2: wtf. Not sure why it's posting that last part as a sig

Also, read up on computer stuff. It's very easy to get a hold of the basics.

I mean, I've read up a bit on what does what, and I've watched a few tutorials on how to build a PC (mainly vids from here), but I don't pretend to know more than I do. Like, that RAM question, not even sure what Dual Channel is.

It's all good. When I first decided I was going to build my own pc three years ago I read stuff here and tomshardware.com. Then I found about about hardforum.com, overclock.net and anandtech.com. I would see a term or part I hadn't heard of and would just google it. Like your last sentence, I would just google "what is dual channel ram?" and learn that way. It definitely helps make better decisions when choosing what to buy.

Now my turn. Sold a 390x and my take home after Amazon fees and shipping is $319. I'm sure I can move my other 390x for the same. I plan to get a holdover card while making the decision on what's next. Not sure if I should get the 1080 when aftermarket gets it or go for another xfire build. Decisions decisions.

    This just in from rumorville:
    http://videocardz.com/60253/amd-rade...k11-benchmarks

As you see Polaris in Crossfire almost reaching 1080 performance. Even more interesting is the Polaris C7 shown has 2304 cores, there's a more robust Polaris 10 coming with 2560 cores that could possibly surpass the 1080 in CF mode. If AMD prices the Polaris 10 at less then half the price of a 1080, then we got an interesting situation.

    CPU
    Intel Core i7 4770S @ 3.10GHz
    Haswell 22nm Technology
    RAM
    12.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz
    Motherboard

    Graphics
3071MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 (192-bit) (ASUStek Computer Inc)

I'm still pretty new when it comes to PC and this will be my first time messing with the inside of one. It was a prebuilt PC, so I already know that I'll most likely have to replace the PSU.

This should be relevant to you https://www.reddit.com/r/computers/c...e_my_computer/

Keep in mind the size of your case, if it's too small then the card might not fit.
ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. K30AD_M31AD_M51AD is NOT the model number of the motherboard but a list of three different computers.

    Asus K30AD

    Asus M31AD

I'm guessing these are your specs:

It should fit somewhere between the 980 Ti and the Titan X, I think. If it does, at a price point of $350-$400, AMD would have to price their top-end Polaris at $250 or less.

I don't think they'll price it at $250 or less though. I just don't see that happening.

As hopeful as I am, not gonna happen. Those numbers are promising for a cheap bastard like myself though.

It's pretty well know Polaris is targeting the mainstream masses meaning most likely the price could be $199-$299

and as Arkanna stated the 1070 should be $349-$400, forcing AMD to be very affordable

after doing a little digging I found the 1070 is smack in the middle of my estimation with a MSRP of $379 (~£312 incl. VAT) for the regular version and $449 (~£372 incl. VAT) for the Founders Edition, release date of June 10. Given that information I estimate Polaris 10 highly likely to be $249.99-299.99

It doesn't make it interesting in the least for me. Single card > sli/cf any day unless I really have a need for the extra power.

But yeah. I've had sli and loved it, but only cause I had a need for it. If I can go single, fuck yeah single.

Sorry, but yeah, I've never had a need for the power personally. I have a 27" 2560x1440 monitor that taxes my 970 pretty hard, so I'll probably go 1070. I've no desire to go 4k anytime soon (though a buddy of mine bought an HTC Vive and that thing is amazing).

And the above is exactly why I think I may go with the 1080. May even go with a mATX case. Not sure what I'd do with the Phanteks Enthoo Pro. Craigslist I guess.

I was planning to do 21:9 if the refresh rates and panels got slightly better, but the 1080 temps me to go 4k which I've been pretty adamantly against all this time. Probably because I'd need it to be 4:4:4 and at that size sweet spot which is bigger than I want in a pc monitor.

Yup. That's it. Yeah, I'll definitely check the size. If it turns out that it's too big, is it possible to take everything out of this case and put it in a new one?
