    That was the issue

    Spoiler: show

In the end i downloaded ThrottleStop (Ver. 8.10) and disabled BD PROCHOT. Right after that CPU speeds went up to 4 GHZ

Long story short, bad sensor on motherboard telling my CPU that the processor is hot when its not, forcing the CPU to throttle down. Which fits the idea that shit just happened overnight.

Its fucking fixed. Thanks all for helping me through this.

Is Memorial day generally a good time for PC parts? Trying to find a good deal on a PSU. This one seems ok, but not sure: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018JYHBE6..._fYGsxbHR8QF6F

$54.99 isn't bad, however if you check http://pcpartpicker.com you'll see it goes down to $39.99 every so often on Newegg. If you don't need it immediately I'd sign up for price alerts and wait for a price drop, looking at the timeline it looks due for a sale.

    Awesome. Thanks for info.

Yeah, I'll just wait it out cause I don't need it until I get my new GPU sometime around June.

Found a Fully-Modular PSU, EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 750W, for $49.99 ($69.99+ $20 rebate) which is a pretty good deal at newegg.

EVGA NeX is just about the only psu by them I'd not recommend as they are OEM by FSP, which is Corsair CX quality, and only have a 3 year warranty vs. 5-10 year for their higher quality G2/P2/B2/GS models.

Right this minute the best deal I see is the XFX (Seasonic OEM) TS 750w 80+ Gold (unfortunately non modular) for $50 after rebate. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817207033

With new computer builds being a likely thing for a lot of people here soon, for anyone on here who's military, Newegg is offering free premier for a year for Active Duty and Veterans

I have in my PC 2 sets of 3 sticks of RAM, 6 gigs each. Recently I upgraded my video card to 2 GTX 960s and a new monitor. For whatever reason the PC says I only have 8 gigs of ram. Anyone got a notion as to why.

I'm making sure I understand you correctly, you have 6 sticks of RAM total, 2 GB per individual stick?

Assuming that's the case (and it's a good idea regardless when you run into any problem like this) I'd reseat all your RAM, and check to see if it's all showing up properly in your bios.

If you don't see what you should, take out all but two sticks, and keep checking to see what's there and adding more RAM between boots to make sure it shows up. If any of the sticks fail to show in the bios, move them around in the slots to determine if the fault is with the slot itself, or if it follows the potentially faulted stick to its new position

2 sets of 6 gig, so 3 sticks equal 6 gig. I ran a bios, and the windows memory test and its coming up roses. I thought when you buy ram together, 2 or 3 sticks, they only work when plugged in together. As in, 1 stick wont work by itself.

A single stick of RAM will work, but you need the matched sticks for proper dual channel performance.

So possibly 2 sticks are bad, not been read by the motherboard, but why would this occur. Everything was fine before I unplugged the machine and switched out the Graphics card.

Shit happens. About a year ago I had both of my RAM sticks just up and die one morning.

Ram is definitely one of the last things I see dying, but I had that happen to with 2x8gb sticks have one die after roughly a week into ownership. At least with ram it's pretty quick for RMA.

Yeah, RAM is definitely one of the last things I would expect to go bad unless you're overclocking it like crazy, but components can and will fail at any moment. Just the nature of electronics.

The ram lane(s) on your motherboard might have gotten damaged when you were working in your PC.

I broke one of my ram lanes trying to get a fallen screw out of my PC long ago.

Assuming I add a 1070 to this build. I already have the PSU, peripherals, extra HDD for storage.

I'm going for 1080p maxed out on dual monitors.

EDIT: I am not buying anything from AMD just FYI.

EDIT2: I will really only use Amazon or Newegg for stuff. Also, no mail-in rebate shit. I never remember to send em in.

Zet, build looks good for a 1070 (which yes, will do 1080p max settings just fine). The PSU would limit your options in the future, but will cover a Skylake i5 and a GTX 1070 with headroom to spare.

Yeah, I actually mistyped the PSU in there. It's a 620W.
