may just yolo the 3080. I only make 200/week but 500 vs 700 and my last GPU, I used since 2013? may just yolo. I already know i'm gonna ride the card till it don't work anymore so if a TI comes out in 2 years, i'm not getting it. May ride this one all the way to the next gen, so all the more reason to 3080 over the 70

It's not hard numbers because clearly Nvidia won't let those come out yet, but Digital Foundry put out a video covering 4k performance in certain games.

Any brand preferences these days? My current card is EVGA and I'd probably stick with that unless there's a compelling reason not to.

EVGA is fine, MSI has been my go-to lately.

The strix models are the best as far as performance vs noise vs cooling with MSI right there. Those are pretty much the only two I choose between.

I really hate noise.

Everyone swears by EVGA customer support but I've never had an issue to need to deal with customer support.

Think I might just go with the 3080 honestly. It being $100 less than we thought and the 90 being $100 more is a bit of an oof when I'm planning on buying a new monitor as well. Just don't feel like the extra performance is worth more than double the cost. Not like I'm planning on any 8k gaming any time soon anyways lol.

Still really want the Zotac extreme or Strix version though, but I don't care about fan noise because headphones.

Edit: Also yay for going with a X570 w/ PCI-E 4.0 and M.2 Gen4 when I upgraded mobo in the spring.

As far as we know they should be launching at the same time, so all the 3080s should be available on the 17th

Also that dual sided fan model is sweet as fuck so that's my third choice but I know the cooling noise and performance won't be the same lol.

I mean realistically the difference between various manufacturers is going to be so minor you likely wouldn't notice unless you were doing direct side by side comparisons, both in terms of performance and noise.

I know it's not noise which is specifically what you're asking, but look at this comparison between various 2080 Supers from different companies

You're talking about around a 1% variance in frame rate between all these different models, and you'd generally see the same thing in terms of noise levels. The only major noise difference between same model GPUs is usually just what temp the bios decides to kick in the fans. I know Asus Strix cards generally favor not kicking in the fans until necessary, usually something around the 60c range, whereas other companies may favor more aggressive fan curves. And even then most GPUs allow for a customizable fan curve

Is it just me or do many (most?) of the third-party cards look atrocious? I've only seen a couple that are particularly good looking and hoooo boy the 3080 FE is sexy.

3090 is huge, but that thing is butt ass ugly. And there is a big difference in noise between the 2080 TI lineup, and it should hold true for the 3080/90 alters. Some of the 2080 TI have as wide as a 12 degree temp difference too.

Can't wait to try to buy my 3090 and get sniped by bots. No preorders and no purchase limits makes one wonder if these manufacturers are consciously trying to have scalpers drive up the prices.

I'll keep buying evga until another AIB has the balls to copy their step up program.
