Not really, but that's not stopping mouth breathers from not understanding the difference between allocated vs actually actively used vram and deciding that clearly Nvidia fucked up by not including more VRAM in this initial release.

Is there any type of ETA on 3080 TIs?
The BounceAlerts results are wild for this drop:
I mean, how necessary is THAT much vram? No game has exceeded 8 for me at max settings on my 2080. Also the price spike on those high vrams must be ridic considering the pricing on the current 3080, in this case i really don’t mind the 3080 more than ever. I’m attempting again today, as much as i want the MSI gaming trio, i’d settle for the EVGA XC3 Ultra or the FE.
It's likely not necessary in any capacity. Current games may be allocating all 8GB of VRAM (or whatever the card has) in current cards they have, but it's in reality only actively using probably half of that.
I think the only example I've seen of a top end card being limited by VRAM capacity is in Doom Eternal at 4k with the texture pool pushed to the absolute limit, which has absolutely zero visual or performance difference from the setting one step down. But I've seen some people on reddit using it as a shining beacon of needing more VRAM.
2080ti has shipped. Need to redo all of my fans and wiring today to make room for the 2nd radiator.
I'll probably hold off for the 20gb version since ultrawide is pretty demanding.
Also looking like the asus TUF model is the real sweet spot of temp/noise so far and the msi isn't.
As I already posted too, the ASUS TUF model was getting temp's FIFTEEN degrees C cooler than FE in some tests. That is an extreme difference.
Yeah it's nuts the MSI whiffed as hard as it did for its price point, I thought the strix was really overpriced but if the TUF is that great I'm actually kind of optimistic for the strix. I've always been an Asus fanboy especially with gpus so I'll probably stay that route again.
Like I would never ever consider an FE or reference board so I'm not surprised temps are that big of a difference.
I normally don't care much about small gains from OCing or the like, but a 15 degree difference between models of the same card? Yikes, im good yall. I'll just wait til the holidays when theres better supplies.

SORRY COULDNT FIND THAT PAGE
So this is a thing... somehow.
2 slot 3090 that's only 26.6cm long
https://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Ca...0TURBO-24GD#kf
That is one nice looking card.
Look forward to it never going over 1500mhz
It's a blower so that's hard to imagine lmao
If leafblowers are blissful silence then sure hahaha
Rumor is evga is getting plenty stock tomorrow. ASUS TUF OC version expected to arrive thursday.
Also reading that these cards are godlike for cryptomining soooo lovely... more stupid competition. Fuck botters, especially bounce alerts. I admit i’ve had the thought cross my mind to take that service one month just to net me my one card, but i’d be the devil and if they really prove these botters as illegitimate purchases and cancel them, then yea it would work against me. But nvidia is in it to make money, fuck their real consumers.
I’m shooting for the 3090 (any ASUS I can get) Thursday. Wish me luck :/
Microcenter went from 8 different cards, down to 3
