And developers would need to add and update it on their games. I see most AAA devs doing this, but we’ll see what the future holds. This is no bueno at all

DLSS is not ray tracing, DLSS is machine learning supersampling, which is what AMD has their own version of.

Nvidia uses both Directx12 DXR and their exclusive RTX, AMD looks to be using Dx12 DXR only.

Man, the one thing AMD should've been able to shit on nvidia with here was power consumption, and they didn't even achieve that.

This doesn't matter as much as how inefficient and immature AMD's RT core tech is. They're simply a joke. RDNA3 is the soonest we can hope to see good amd RT perf.

I also have very little hope for AMD's dlss response but we'll see. Nvidia has pumped so much R&D into machine learning that amd needs a miracle to catch up any time soon, not to mention it wouldn't have any for-purpose hardware acceleration.

Fwiw even without DLSS it's getting crushed in ray tracing.

3080 vs 6800XT at 1080p with no DLSS it's still average 110 fps vs 70 fps

Which would be fine, if the price reflected it. For $50 more there is simply no reason to not buy Nvidia.

from my extensive knowledge of tracking for the past 24 hours all 3080 listings are gone within seconds and there are hundreds of response emojis on every notification post in Discord within a minute suggesting thousands of active buyers
