Raster performance is great for the price but they're way behind Nvidia in ray tracing and FSR just can't compete with DLSS.

It's the XT vs the XTX. Think GN made a vid about it already but the price and performance delta between the XT and XTX is bad, and you're better off saving $200 more and getting the XTX in every situation. Don't mistake it: I'm not saying the XTX is a bad card. You should get that over a 4080 unless you really love RTX. The XT is DoA though, imo.
As an extension to my other statement, anything below the 4080 and 7900XT is going to be horrendous this gen due to the pricing that both nvidia and AMD are going for.
Money isn't a barrier and you want the absolute best? 4090 is unchallenged.
Want the best features and RT performance and don't mind spending a premium? 4080.
Want to save $200 for the same or better raw performance at the cost of feature set and RT performance? 7900XTX.
Otherwise buy a 3070ti/3080/3090 or wait for next gen.
Are there really no monitor arms out there that align to the cardinal directions when rotating - or even just limited to 90 degree rotation instead of 360? Going from portrait to landscape is always an annoyance when I have to spend such time getting it level.
I have an ErGear I picked up probably around a year ago. It has a relatively small indent when you hit a level rotation, although it's not significant and it doesn't lock in that spot.
Was really hoping for more from AMD. Running 4k 120hz now on a C2 and a 3080, 4090 lookin real good.
At least the mini PCs running off AMD stuff are killing it.
I'm setting up an emulation box for myself that's going to run off a 6900HX APU and that thing can basically run everything up to PS3 and even most modern AAA games at medium for 1080p
4080 is garbage for cost versus performance. Be better off getting a 3080, or even a 3090ti since those have crashed in price versus the 4080.
You probably get hosed with VAT. With NA Prices, the 4090 is a better value than the 4080, though it's still a shitty value.
If you can get a MSRP 3080 or 3070TI in the US, that's pretty much your best bang for the buck IF you want/need Ray Tracing.
If you don't want that, then can get by with a high end AMD card.
They are all a bad value imo. For $1,500 you should be able to play games in 8k at 100fps+. >.>

I mean a 4090 can run Overwatch 2 at 500 fps @ 8k
Ok.. did not know that.
But on "Ultra" settings? What about other games?

8k is dumb
I mean who the fuck even has an 8k monitor? That said, I sadly had to rebuild during the height of the shortage, so my EVGA 3080ti was about 1560 (about 180 over MSRP at the time) and coming from a Radeon R290 and an I5 4690, I can't really complain about cost to performance. If you're making a similar leap like I did, it's worth it If you're upgrading from a 3xxx Nvidia or 6xxx Radeon card, it's probably not worth it.
YouTube tech channels I guess?
Video codecs and ISPs got a long long way to go to ever make 8k a viable resolution for media.
7900XTX back in stock, picked one up for MSRP. and quite a bit cheaper than the bottom tier 4080s.
Back on amd for the first time since a 280x.
