    Hello fellows and fellas!

On a whim I went out and got this CPU/MB/Ram deal for $750.
The monitor in the build below I already had, and I’m going to re-use my current 870evo and maybe toss in a 2TB nvme.
Where should I go from here? I haven’t played any games at max settings for the past 7-8 years. I’ve acquired a little extra spending cash and want to max out on some of the games I play, or at least use the Samsung G7 properly.
CIV6, BG3, D4, and with the new cyberpunk updates I was going to try that out and Starfield (free copy with the 3-part deal).

What's your current PSU? I'm guessing you're looking for a GPU since you have everything else.

What's your cooling situation? You're gonna have high heat so I hope you're going water cooling. Do you already know what kind of GPU you're getting? There are great deals on the 3000 series, both new and used. Also yeah, you gotta make sure your PSU is up to snuff.

If you want to upgrade the monitor, I would go this route:

    https://www.microcenter.com/product/...gaming-monitor

It's pricey, but you can get them on sale now for about $800. It has some of the best colors and HDR I've ever seen (especially BG3) without that matte screen bullshit. Is it excess? For sure. Is it worth it? ABSOLUTELY.

I have a 3080TI which can handle everything thrown at it and I'm not too familiar with the 4k series since I'm not looking to upgrade just yet.

My current PSU and other parts missing from the PCparts picker list are from a 2013 build using mid-range 2012 parts (it’s been a while). Been using banaids to keep it together this long
The Samsung G7 monitor is “new”, just bought it earlier this year. The 870 evo I got in 2021 when my 2013 SSDs/HDDs died.

Would I be able to re-use the 870evo with the fresh W10 install on it from 2021? Or better to just get like a 500GB nvme for booting and another 2TB nvme for games and stuff?

    I’m thinking either a 4070ti or a 4080?
Not knowledgeable enough on good power supplies/brands

Edit: friend told me to get a water cooler for the Ryzen and fans around the case were probably fine? Otherwise, again nothing I currently have to transfer over. Could use some suggestions for all
More edit: not sure if that Samsung does 4K gaming. But it’s a 240hertz?

I'd boot from the fastest drive, so get the biggest nvme you can get. The 870 can be storage for slow/old games. I use my older SSD for not-bleeding edge games.

If you can afford a 4000 series card, go for it. My PSU is an 8 year old 500W EVGA that I can't complain about, but I don't know a lot of details about PSU branding. I did what you did except I was able to reuse my older motherboard and upgrade to a 5700, so that saved on wattage which let me fit a 3060ti without having power interruptions.

If you go for 4000 series card, you're going to need at least 750W iirc. Someone light the Krandor or Welt signal

4080 would be better out of those two. Out of the entire 40 series the 4090 really is the best in terms of performance per dollar so if you can at all swing that, just go for the one closest to MSRP that you can find. Even ones like the MSI twin fan whatever will shit on any other card currently on the market. But yeah, otherwise the 4080 or an AMD card would be best. Honestly you may want to wait and see how the 7800/7700 from AMD look before buying if you don't care about nvidia locked features like DLSS3/3.5.

Go for something like a be quiet or corsair 850w (1000 if you want to be as safe as possible for future builds as well) titanium or platinum rated if you want to be a baller.

870evo is more than enough for Windows and other usual programs, with a separate drive for games. HDD or Hybrid mass storage still works for docs/music/videos/etc if you hoard anything like that.

7950X3D runs quite hot. Outside of a custom loop I'd go for a 360mm CLC (the arctic liquid freezer is still the best bang for the buck though it isn't as flashy as some others; if you want lights go for something like the Lian Li Galahad or EK's AIO). 420mm is very slightly better if your case accomodates.

You didn't mention a case and said you're looking for suggestions on everything so... easy answers here would be something like the Corsair 4000D/5000D or an FD Meshify 2. Anything that promotes airflow and has plenty of space for radiators/fans.

You said fans are probably fine however if you decide to change those or add new/more, aesthetics: lian li unifans. Performance and low cost: Arctic P12. Noctua fans are the best for low noise, high performance results but they cost like $30 each. Can get 3-5 P12s for that same price and next to the same performance.

In the spirit of being comprehensive: peripherals. If you want simple out of the box shit for a keyboard, the ROG Azoth and the new Razer hotswappable blackwidow are the best gaming keyboards money can buy and that you can actually get your hands on. Wooting boards are also good but hard to find. Keychron has the most options and are very high quality however in my experience the switches need a lot of work to actually match ASUS and Razer here, which I never thought I'd ever say ever. These allow you to swap out switches, keycaps, etc. for a custom feel if you want to but they perform very well out of the box and this kind of thing has come a long way compared to the generic shitware gaming boards of yesteryear. For mice it depends on what you're playing. I stand by my recommendation of the Naga Pro v2 for just about anyone since it functions as 3 different kinds of mice with the swappable side plate, has the best longevity I've personally experienced with a mouse due to the optical switches, and a great sensor; can save money here going for the wired Naga (make sure it's a recent one with optical switches) if you don't care about wireless. If you're a competitive FPS player you'd want something more lightweight like Logitech's ultralights. Speakers: Klipsch the Fives. They're the only powered speakers I'd ever recommend to anyone who doesn't want to deal with receivers, amps, etc.; they sound phenomenal especially in a small to medium sized room and the bass response is good enough that you don't need a subwoofer. Anything else is plastic e-waste that isn't worth the money.

Idk if I'm forgetting anything but there you go.

So the 7800XT is pretty good. $500 for the 7800XT and it competes with the $600 4070 while demolishing the 4060ti for rasterization. 4060ti still wins for any RT situation and of course any game where you can run DLSS/FG it won't be a contest. Jury's still out on FSR3 but I can't see it being as good as DLSS as, historically, the quality difference between the two has always been enormous.

$500 for a midrange card is still absolutely insane but that's the reality we live in these days. If you don't care about more than 60fps nor nvidia locked features this is probably the new midrange card to have. That said those other things are still pretty huge.

7700XT makes no sense since it doesn't always beat last Gen 6xxx cards and the $50 gap is largely irrelevant. But you can get 6700XT/6800XTs for cheaper at the moment.

Mannnn I need to see benchmarks but at those prices and performance even a 3000 series card will beat it most of the time, especially in RT or dlss situations, which is available most of the time.

If you're about these things, Rivatuner got updated to include the new presentmon features intel developed, so it can show GPU/CPU busy metrics, so you can know what's limiting you

decided on a 4080, my IT guy that I play MTG w/ sometimes when it's slow in the office recommended the PSU that's in the list. He said the Corsair HX850 would be fine too if I wanted to save a little $$$.

    Notes A&B - whats a header adapter :/
Note quite sure I understand D&E. Just saying I need mounts?

Overall, how's she look? anything I can swap around?

    A
Note: A USB 3.2 Gen 1 to USB 2.0 header adapter is required.
    B
Note: A USB 3.2 Gen 2 to USB 3.2 Gen 1 header adapter is required.
    C
Note: Fan compatibility checking is currently not supported.
    D
Note: The NZXT H9 Flow ATX Mid Tower Case front panel USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C port needs a motherboard USB 3.2 Gen 2 header but none are available. The USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C port will not be usable.
    E
Note: The NZXT Kraken Z73 RGB 52.44 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler may require a separately available mounting adapter to fit the Asus ROG STRIX B650E-F GAMING WIFI ATX AM5 Motherboard.

I just went through your part list and the motherboard you selected has both connectors necessary for the front panel USB Type C and Type A ports. It also has two USB 2.0 headers for the internal connections for the power supply and AIO. You should not need any adapter cables. Therefore the A, B, & D concerns are not valid, per the MB and Case manuals. I'm not sure about E. The Z73 site page states that it is AM5 compatible, but also states that you need to fill out a request form for the AM5 bracket. It may be that initial versions of the AIO did not have the AM5 bracket in the box, but later releases do.

That corsair psu is a v good recommendation. Only one I'd put above it is a Dark power 12 or something.

I don't think they even make motherboards on current year chipset without a usb-C connector so pc part picker is on crack

Most manufacturers include the am5 hardware off the shelf now. Just depends how long your unit was on said shelf. Older boxes won't have a bracket in it. Spoilers though, most am4 brackets work fine with am5. Most of the ones Ive used just needed longer screws.

My am4 ekwb waterblock is being held in by some machine screws from home depot rn

really excited for this. I've been using the same rig since 2013 with the only part changing being the upgrade to the 1070TI. going from 1070 to 4080 xD

Trying to find a Kraken Z73 is proving difficult. I guess it's their older model anyway?

If I got a Kraken 360 and got the RGB F120 Fans, would removing the F120P's it came with and putting in the RBG Duo's be an issue?

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...DKIKX0DER&th=1
    https://www.amazon.com/NZXT-F120-RGB...s%2C116&sr=1-2

    EDIT:
    Specs on the stock F120P's
    Speed:500 - 1,800 ± 300RPM
    Airflow:21.67 - 78.02 CFM
    Static Pressure:0.75 - 2.7 mm-H₂O
    Noise:17.9 - 30.6 dBA

    Specs on the F120 RGB's
    Speed:500 - 1,800 ± 300RPM
    Airflow:13.94 - 50.18 CFM
    Static Pressure:0.75 - 2.7 mm-H₂O
    Noise:17.2 - 27.5 dBA

Or Duo's to see cool lights through the radiator?
    Speed:500 - 1,800 ± 300RPM
    Airflow:48.58 CFM
    Static Pressure:2.42 mm-H₂O
    Noise:29 dBA

    Moar edit:
I guess I wasn't using google right. It appears this is standard practice.

ASUS releasing a $3200 AIO 4090, that's hilarious. Can make a custom loop for any msrp model 4090 for at least $1000 less than that.

LAWL, pretty sure MSI has one for 2000, and you get the added benefit of Asus not fucking you on your warranty if something goes wrong.

So I think my laptop is dead. It got some water dripped on it when I was outside working under an umbrella during a brief downpour. Didn't think it was anything major and just wiped it off. Later that day the wireless was acting up, but a restart got it working again. Then two hours later it crashed and I realized I might have a problem. Opened it up, let it dry, but now it blue screens 80% of the time before login screen and the other 20% is about 30 seconds to 1 min at the desktop.

I'm assuming this is not worth fixing at this point. We're so close to Black Friday I want to hold out, but I am going on three work trips before Thanksgiving that I will need a laptop for.

I can probably make due with poor quality loaners until then, but if there is a good option for me available now that won't really be that much cheaper in 2 months I'm all ears.

Doesn't need to be able to handle bleeding edge releases. 1440p preferred, but I can live with 1080p for 165Hz or higher (esports frames more important than resolution).
