    The numbers I see show a 3080 consuming $2.80 a day and a 3090 $2.64 a day according to nicehash.

Fuck it, I'll get you started if you want to mine.

First, check out the profitability calculator and select your hardware & electricity costs.

Nicehash Profit Calculator or Whattomine (advanced options and more algos)

Second, you need a wallet to store your ether, the easiest one to get you started is Metamask:

    Metamask wallet

    Thrid, mining software. Two options:

    1. Nicehash: Easiest, just download and let it do its thing. Best if you have one or two gpus.
    2. Phoenixminer: For medium to advanced users. Greatest flexibility, best for mining rigs.

Last, you need your miner to point to a pool. If you're using Nicehash, you don't have to worry about this. Else, here's one to get you started:
    1. Ethermine: One of the top ones, cheap, and fast payouts.

Here's a list of top pools in case you want to try different ones.

    Happy mining.

Makes me want a 3090 instead but it would take 14 months running 24/7 to pay the difference over a 3080.

Sold my 2080 TI for much higher than the price of a 3080 tonight. This market is just wild.

My previous post was for those of you who have one or two gpus and wanted to learn/fuck around with mining. I'd never recommend any of you to buy gpus to mine. Crypto is schizo, and you don't want to get rug pulled.

Now, if you wanted to snatch a used 10xx, 20xx, or rx (hate these) for your gaming, now's the time. Miners are selling their used hardware at a discount.

I've just got it set to sync mode to control it with SF 5

Thinking about swapping my gigabyte mobo for an Asus but not with the current price hike in place

I was reading that Bidens team is looking to fix this tariff situation asap, so hopefully this situation will pass relatively quickly.

Anyone know of good motherboards for a Ryzen 5000 series? Most reviews I'm reading are saying they aren't shipped with the new bios so unless you have an older gen Ryzen to update it, it won't even boot.

That depends on how old the reviews are, my friend just got a mini itx mobo that was bios updated out of the box.

Any X570 or B550 will do just fine imo, if you are unsure tho, i think AMD has a program that let’s you borrow an old Ryzen chip to boot and bios update it.

Another thing tho, the higher end mobos such as the ASUS Strix should have a bios flash button on the i/o panel that let’s you flash the bios from a flash drive without needing the boot into windows.

Friend just got a new Gigabyte Aorus Master and his shipped with the latest BIOS that supports 5000.

Also, a lot of motherboards have Q-Flash or some equivalent. You just plug the board into the PSU, stick in a thumbdrive with the BIOS, and press the button. You do this BEFORE you install RAM / CPU / GPU etc.

I got a asus tuf gaming b550m-plus wifi, it's a micro-atx board though as my case is a micro one. It did need a bios update but I was able to use the bios flashback feature to upgrade, no issues!

Like welt said it's literally just plug in a usb with the bios and press a button.

I like it. If you care about HDMI 2.1, those monitors just got announced last week and will be coming throughout 2021.
