I read the book like a month ago. I think it’s literally the same game but it changed form to entrap a new generation aka what the trailer for jumanji 2 had it do.

Maybe that's what I'm thinking of, although I don't think I ever actually saw that movie. I swear there was another Jumanji movie where they find the game on a stormy night or something. Maybe I'm just losing my mind.

Zathura is correct. It was marketed to be in the same world as Jumaji though it had no mention of the previous board game.

kind of surprised by the social commentary, not that it's anything to complain about
also, hurrdurr dick jokes that are actually funny and don't make me want to punch the writer, who would have thought?

Just got out from seeing it and I agree, was much better than I expected.

I like how they tied it to the OG Jumanji in that the game transformed itself into a new medium when the kid thought board games were stupid. Also the callback to Alan Perish's treehouse was a nice touch

% wise yes, but when it was so front loaded, it was able to offset it. Not like Jumanji is going to come close to raking in the dollars TLJ did.

I saw it, I wasn't laughing my ass off, or bored out of my mind. There were maybe 6 or so parts that made me go "ha". If I had to give it a number, I'd say... like 5.5/10

We watched the original Jumanji last Friday, which she didn't enjoy, but man, it aged horribly.
